Agreed. There’s some people I don’t want to play nice with. I don’t tolerate their behavior either when they act like buttheads. They need to work on themselves but I don’t have to show respect for assnine behavior. To me it’s being phony. Is it so hard to say I don’t like selfish self centered conservative bigots. You’d have to become a totally different person for me to like you. Courtesy is avoiding telling them that unless they insist on knowing.

Once you become aware of this consistent tactic you no longer fall victim to it. Hitler was wrong, the world just did not believe someone capable of such outright sinister manipulation through incredulous falsehoods. Once you become aware that your government is not only capable but is actually deceiving everyone, you know you can no longer trust anything they say. America has awakened to this reality and is standing ever vigilant regarding our leaders and representatives.

See, this is part of the problem: the willingness of people to turn the other cheek to this kind of offensive behavior, as if it were a brain fart, a momentary indiscretion based in the passion of belief in a good cause.

It’s not.

Hanretty isn’t a colleague. She is a journalist only, and exactly, in the same sense that the “firemen” in Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451″ are firemen.

She does what she does for entirely different reasons than those which compel real journalists to write. Real journalists wish to inform the public and of course the public discourse, while Hanretty seeks to obscure it and disinform it.

Budowski owes her no professional courtesy whatsoever, save that which he has already provided: to clearly and patiently point out that she is absolutely full of shit.

Here's a old Hanretty quote, in which she says that the GOP can swiftboat Senator Clinton during her presidential bid yet keep their fingerprints off it: "HANRETTY: And it's not Republicans, necessarily, who have to go after her in a general, if, in fact, she wins the primary. She can be Swift Boated. She can -- 527s can go attack her, and Republicans can keep their hands clean of it. So, one way or another, this will come up. But David Geffen really, I think, signified the frustration that Democrats have with the recklessness of her husband. And, look, there's plenty of time for him to be caught with his pants down between now and the primary election next year."

my only caveat: i am not sure we will have an election. the cheney faction has a hard on for war with iran — via gulf of tonkin 2.0, or terrorist attack(s) here at home; thanks for leaving the border wide open peckerheads — and when that happens here comes martial law.

to all. riddle me this joker: why are we supposedly spreading democracy abroad and trashing the snot out of it here at home? why are we building a police state one brick at a time?

i beseech all on this board to get more involved. i believe the next 30-60-90 days are vital. a main reason the dim leadersheep (the aclu has a devastating ad on the internets b*tchslapping nancy and harry) and the congressional rank and file need a “spine transplant” is because too many citizens don’t contact their public servants. don’t belong to organizations that can bring some heat. don’t contact the m$m in their hometowns. don’t take part in various actions. etc, etc.

we want it. will we do the work to bring it about? will we bring along a few friends……so we can get to the proverbial “tipping point.”

After the FISA amendment debacle, I wrote this little blurb, which I can summarize as "we on the left take Democrats who vote against our country's principles to task routinely, but we expect the Republicans to behave that way". I think it's a pretty sad commentary on our government that even when the most heinous violations of our principles and our Constitution show up before Congress, they vote for them almost unanimously. I could almost understand the majority voting for these things, but with almost no dissent? What happened to the party of small government?
