I saw this headline in my local paper, “Illinois Corruption: Deep Roots, Tough to Weed Out” an AP piece by Sharon Cohen. In this piece, she details the long, long history of corruption in Chicago, and Illinois, politics. Also in this lengthy article, the only mention of Obama, the man who chose to move to Chicago precisely to get INTO politics, was this:

There have been reforms in the state, most notably a new ethics law designed to limit the impact of money in politics. It was approved only after Obama, a former state senator, called his one-time mentor, Senate President Emil Jones, and urged its passage.

His “one-time mentor”? Are you freakin’ KIDDING me??? How about the Kingmaker who put Obama’s name on legislation on which he had not worked?? Oh, wait, that’s just too close to the truth of Obama’s lack of experience/qualifications. No way can the AP get that close…

Ahem. But of course, the ONLY reason The One made the decision to begin his political career in Chicago, apparently, was to clean up Illinois politics. Hahahahaha! Yeah, and that’s why he endorsed Blagojevich – TWICE. And worked on his campaign. But why quibble over past history, right? RIGHT??

That does seem to be the MO around anything related to BO. It is really amazing to me. In my opinion, though, the only way someone can deny Obama is a Chicago-style politician is flat our ignorance, or flat our denial of reality. Take your pick. There is NO way from the stories that have come out about Obama, his relationships to Blagojevich, Rezko, Wright, Meeks, Ayers, et al, that he is above typical Chicago politics. The Rezko thing ALONE is indicative of his involvement. And there is no way that Blagojevich JUST became corrupt as of Nov. 5th when Obama, with the help of ANOTHER corrupt Chicago political institution, ACORN (there have been so many stories on ACORN, and their actions this year, it is hard to single out just one, but here’s a YouTube video, and here’s another. There are many more videos on this subject. If you want more article information, please feel free to use the”Search” function at the upper right hand corner of this page.), helped him become PEBO.

Yes, I know the MSM has been a HUGE help in both regards – ignorance and denial. But not ALL reputable sources were completely in the tank for The One. The New Yorker, for instance, had some impressive pieces, particularly this one,The Political Scene: “Making It: How Chicago shaped Obama. The article title alone is indicative of the effect of Chicago-style politics on Obama. The author, Ryan Lizza, published this article in July 21, 2008, so like I said, the information was definitely available…

Many of us have heard of Alice Palmer, one of the first people (of whom we are aware) thrown under the bus by a power-hungry Obama. There was another woman, too, Toni Preckwinkle, who had a whole lot to say about the young Mr. Obama on his ascension into Chicago politics:

One day in 1995, Barack Obama went to see his alderman, an influential politician named Toni Preckwinkle, on Chicago’s South Side, where politics had been upended by scandal. Mel Reynolds, a local congressman, was facing charges of sexual assault of a sixteen-year-old campaign volunteer. (He eventually resigned his seat.) The looming vacancy set off a fury of ambition and hustle; several politicians, including a state senator named Alice Palmer, an education expert of modest political skills, prepared to enter the congressional race. Palmer represented Hyde Park—Obama’s neighborhood, a racially integrated, liberal sanctuary—and, if she ran for Congress, she would need a replacement in Springfield, the state capital. Obama at the time was a thirty-three-year-old lawyer, university lecturer, and aspiring office-seeker, and the Palmer seat was what he had in mind when he visited Alderman Preckwinkle.

“Barack came to me and said, ‘If Alice decides she wants to run, I want to run for her State Senate seat,’ ” Preckwinkle told me. We were in her district office, above a bank on a street of check-cashing shops and vacant lots north of Hyde Park. Preckwinkle soon became an Obama loyalist, and she stuck with him in a State Senate campaign that strained or ruptured many friendships but was ultimately successful. Four years later, in 2000, she backed Obama in a doomed congressional campaign against a local icon, the former Black Panther Bobby Rush. And in 2004 Preckwinkle supported Obama during his improbable, successful run for the United States Senate. So it was startling to learn that Toni Preckwinkle had become disenchanted with Barack Obama.

Well, I’ll be damned – Obama DIDN’T win all of his races! Amazing how we have RARELY (if ever) heard about his “doomed” race. Or that some people who know him, really know him, no longer are delighting in his glow:

Preckwinkle is a tall, commanding woman with a clipped gray Afro. She has represented her slice of the South Side for seventeen years and expresses no interest in higher office. On Chicago’s City Council, she is often a dissenter against the wishes of Mayor Richard M. Daley. For anyone trying to understand Obama’s breathtakingly rapid political ascent, Preckwinkle is an indispensable witness—a close observer, friend, and confidante during a period of Obama’s life to which he rarely calls attention.

Although many of Obama’s recent supporters have been surprised by signs of political opportunism, Preckwinkle wasn’t. “I think he was very strategic in his choice of friends and mentors,” she told me. “I spent ten years of my adult life working to be alderman. I finally got elected. This is a job I love. And I’m perfectly happy with it. I’m not sure that’s the way that he approached his public life—that he was going to try for a job and stay there for one period of time. In retrospect, I think he saw the positions he held as stepping stones to other things and therefore approached his public life differently than other people might have.”

Well, again, if anyone could see the trajectory of Obama’s career as anything other thank opportunistic “stone-stepping,” it is only because they did not WANT to see that Obama was a driven POLITICIAN.

But here is my point: Chicago politics. This is a major foundation the MSM and Obama worshipers/supporters refuse to acknowledge – because it does not fit the narrative they have created:

On issue after issue, Preckwinkle presented Obama as someone who thrived in the world of Chicago politics. She suggested that Obama joined Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ for political reasons. “It’s a church that would provide you with lots of social connections and prominent parishioners,” she said. “It’s a good place for a politician to be a member.” Preckwinkle was unsparing on the subject of the Chicago real-estate developer Antoin (Tony) Rezko, a friend of Obama’s and one of his top fund-raisers, who was recently convicted of fraud, bribery, and money laundering: “Who you take money from is a reflection of your knowledge at the time and your principles.” As we talked, it became increasingly clear that loyalty was the issue that drove Preckwinkle’s current view of her onetime protégé. “I don’t think you should forget who your friends are,” she said.

Others told me that Preckwinkle’s grievances against Obama included specific complaints, such as his refusal to endorse a former aide and longtime friend, Will Burns, in a State Senate primary—a contest that Burns won anyway. There was also a more general belief that, after Obama won the 2004 United States Senate primary, he ignored his South Side base. Preckwinkle said, “My view is you have to bring your constituency along with you. Granted, you have to make some tough decisions. Granted, sometimes you have to make decisions that people won’t understand or like. But it’s your obligation to explain yourself and try to do your supporters the courtesy of treating them with respect.” Ivory Mitchell, who for twenty years has been the chairman of the local ward organization in Obama’s neighborhood—considered the most important Democratic organization on the South Side—was one of Obama’s earliest backers. Today, he says, “All the work we did to help him get where he finally ended up, he didn’t seem too appreciative.” A year ago, Mitchell became a delegate for Hillary Clinton.

What?? Obama not appreciative? Yeah – no kidding. He has made it abundantly clear that he will step on whoever whenever it is politically – I said, POLITICALLY – expedient for him to do so. And still:

The same month Mitchell endorsed Clinton, the Obama campaign reached out to Preckwinkle, and eventually she signed on as an Obama delegate. I asked her if what she considered slights or betrayals were simply the necessary accommodations and maneuvering of a politician making a lightning transition from Hyde Park legislator to Presidential nominee. “Can you get where he is and maintain your personal integrity?” she said. “Is that the question?” She stared at me and grimaced. “I’m going to pass on that…”

Can’t say as I blame her. What does it say when someone who DOES actually know him has “to pass” on answering a question regarding Obama’s integrity? Or when the governor of his home state refers to him as a “mo***r f***er”?? These are the people who KNOW him, after all, not just who worship him from afar.

And then there is this (emphasis mine):

Chicago is not Obama’s home town, but it’s where he chose to forge his identity. Several weeks ago, he moved many of the Democratic National Committee’s operations from Washington to Chicago, making the city the unofficial capital of the Democratic Party; his campaign headquarters are in an office building in the Loop, Chicago’s downtown business district. But Chicago, with its reputation as a center of vicious and corrupt politics, may also be the place that Obama needs to leave behind.

Exactly. Chicago, with its long, long, LONG history of corrupt politics, is the city in which Obama decided to forge his political identity. One other interesting note on Obama and Chicago politics:

…David Axelrod, who has been Obama’s chief strategist since 2002 and is the foremost political consultant in Chicago, was a witness to all of it, first as a political reporter for the Chicago Tribune and later as the chief consultant to two mayors: Harold Washington, Chicago’s first black mayor and a hero of the Independents, and the current Mayor Daley, whose last name still carries negative connotations in the precincts of Hyde Park…

Uh huh. David Axelrod has shown himself to be a part of Chicago-style politics in the way he has run Obama’s campaign, that’s for sure. And no doubt, he will continue to use Chicago-style politics in the White House, too. Why change horses in mid-stream, right?

Oh, wait – that’s the wrong talking point. Ahem. Yes, Obama is trying to distance himself from Chicago politics NOW. Now that so many of its players’ wrong-doings are in the headlines, but those of us who have been keeping score know the real deal. Obama is inextricably bound to Chicago politics, and Chicago STYLE politics, as we saw this year with Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, and John McCain. Basically, anyone who had the “audacity to get in Obama’s way experienced Chicago politics up close and personal, and it was not pretty.

There is much, much more to the New Yorker article, and I hope you will click HERE to finish reading it (it’s long, which is why I am not reprinting it all here). In it you will read about Obama’s contentious relationship with another member of the IL Senate, Rickey Hendon; his relationship with Rezko, Ayers, and Dorhn; how his community organizing REALLY went (hint: not as well as he likes to claim NOW), and much more. I will leave you with this passage:

Part of Obama’s political success is that he has been able to exploit relationships with important yet ethically dubious figures in Illinois while still maintaining his independence. In some ways, this is an Illinois tradition. When the liberal reformer Adlai Stevenson ran for governor, in 1948, one Democratic boss reportedly noted that he would “perfume the ticket.” The earnest Lincoln scholar Paul Simon stood out in the Senate for his moral rectitude and his commitment to good government even as his state wallowed in scandal. “The political bosses knew they had to have what they used to call in business a loss leader—the showcasing,” Don Rose, the Chicago political consultant, said. “The car that you sold for under its value for advertising purposes. While you had at the top of your ticket a shining star, under that it was like turning over a rock.”

Obama has said little about the scandals in his home state. Besides the Rezko and Blagojevich cases, there have been indictments and convictions against the Daley administration concerning hiring and contracting practices. Getting close to the sullied political leadership in Illinois was probably an unavoidable cost of winning the U.S. Senate seat. Emil Jones told me that another of the lessons Obama learned after his 2000 loss was the importance of political sponsorship.

You can say that again…

    Dear Everyone,

Please note that the only reason Obama called his mentor Emil Jones and asked him to push forward that ethics bill was because the Chicago Sun-Times shamed him (Obama) into doing it.

Obama ducks call to push reform in Illinois
ETHICS | Group wants him to intervene with Senate leader

The New York Times has also described (at least twice) Obama’s supposedly heroic effort to get this legislation passed. I wrote them to correct this, but they ignored me. Surprise.

I think in most places people have no concept of such a culture of corruption, thus fail to realize that Chicago corruption is to most corruption like Megalodont is to Great White Sharks. We know all about the latter, can’t imagine something that would swallow one up, dismiss the idea. It can’t happen here, as Frank Zappa put it.

  • rolling_thunder

How did it get this far? Why wouldn’t people listen to us? I think I’m going to get sick.

  • FenelonSpoke

    Hi, Rev Amy-

I appreciate your vigilance on these issues.

On a spiritual note, I am taking a non guided spiritual retreat on Jan 19, 20, 21 because I need to center myself in peace during what will be the hoopla during the inaguration. Hebrew Scripture says “Put not your trust in Princes” and I can certainly relate to that as far as Obama. I will have no TV no radio, no Newspapers and I will be cooking on the site. I will have lots of time for silence and reading and praying. I am recommending this to any person who is a person of religious faith and can get away. You probably know of places in your area for retreat but a good resource is also is http://www.findthedivinedotcom.

    Best to you

    • FenelonSpoke

Well, of course I recommend it to people of religious faith who didn’t vote for Obama. ;^)

      • Good for you, Fenelon! That is an excellent idea!! Please check back in with us when you return from your retreat…

And thanks for the kind words. Vigilance is required of us all, I think…

        GREAT comments, everyone!!

What is happening is the hijacking of the source of pubic policy-the people; has now been a forced substitution of the press, dictating what public policy is; this is the baseline for what is being”allowed”, in and out of the news, as “truth”, and “reporting”. As long as the press is allowed to dictate what public policy is-therefore creating a false public policy to serve a favored group, not one damned thing will change. When you have your voice removed, you find it hard to be heard.

Also to the public policy point of this issue known as the one and Chicago politics, dirty and shameful; is the acceptance of some generations to allow and condone this behave while other generations do not. It isn’t a generation war as believed, as it is diluted with “wanna be young forever” immature 50ish types, and those who just have to be hip and hot. We are not and haven’t had a true picture of what “public” policy on a national level is. It took 3 years for people to get the courage to speak out about the war in Iraq, much damage has been done by both sides, pushing their issues to try to control public policy, because if you don’t realize this, then know that is what becomes law. So, we have an ineffective media for the public, they are only the media for themselves and their self interests, trying to produce a false public policy, we have groups as we always have had trying to put their agenda first, and finally filthy, disgusting self serving ass suckers; I mean politicians, who do not care about, our economy, neither banks nor cars nor failed mortgages; because if they did, the law would serve all of us, not one group one need, that is the beauty of true public policy, it works to the benefit of the most.

Our problem, at this point, “The Chicago Style of Business as Usual” methods, are trying to be introduced and fed to us as public policy under the auspices of fairness in race and politics, yadda yadda.the msm hasn’t cared in forever, so they won’t start now.

Off topic: Obama takes questions from grade schoolers but won’t take questions from reporters about Hot Rod Blagojevich:

For Obama, weekly poker games with lobbyists and fellow state senators helped cement his position as a rising star in Illinois politics.

Obama played most regularly as an Illinois state senator in the late 1990s. The legislature met in Springfield, which had little to recommend it after hours, except on Wednesday nights, when “The Committee Meeting,” as it was nicknamed, convened in state senator Terry Link’s basement. Obama and fellow senators made up the “core four.” The game began at 7 p.m. and often lasted until 2 a.m. There were pizza and chips, a fridge full of beer, and enough cigars for a smoke-filled room. Obama usually showed up in a baseball cap and sweats. He cadged cigarettes and drank a beer, kept up with the boys’-night-out banter and roared at the off-color stories.

Obama used the sessions to bond with those who could aid his political ascent, including several lawmakers with whom he forged lasting political alliances, as well as some lobbyists. The banks, utilities and insurance agents were often represented. “We all became buddies in the card games, but there never were any favors granted,” says David Manning of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois.

Obama usually left a winner. But he reaped a bigger payoff politically.

Well, now if it was ME I wouldn’t walk into a private room with politicians and lobbyists where money gets handed around. That is, if I didn’t want to look DIRTY AS HELL. But that’s just me, I guess.

Heads up folks, Rahm = 21 calls on tape re Seat with Blago

Claim: Rahm Emanuel on 21 Different Calls with Blago About Senate Seat, All Taped by the Feds
And those are the ones they taped. Who knows if a couple were made on non-bugged phones.

    No contacts? Really dude?

Jesse Jackson, Jr. Working With the Feds Since Last Summer? I’m not buying this. If it were true, then JJJ helped arrange a sting on Blago, with the Jackson Family playing along to set him up.

Possible? Sure. But I don’t buy it.

More likely the claim comes from JJJ’s camp itself and by “working with” the feds regarding Blago, he means answering questions in the long ongoing inquiry.

Which is hardly a big deal. Or proof of innocence.

Blago Adviser Pleads Guilty to Unrelated Charges: About unreported gambling income. But he still might have some interesting tales to tell:

He was not charged with conduct related to state deals but is widely known to be under scrutiny for fund-raising schemes under Blagojevich.

Excellent. Obanana very much ahead of schedule.

JJjr. couldn’t be working w/Feds for various reasons. First it would be ‘entrapment’ and it would vindicate Blago. He was candidate no. 5, not mentioned by Obama’s list. His only advantage was to fulfill a bribe and in his 90 visit w/Blago he probably offered one.

  • Obama’s performance as Prez can be predicted by how he operated in “lower” offices — Rev. Amy — another outstanding article.

The information about Obama’s involvement with Chicago politics has been out there — and “everybody” knows about how dirty Chicago politics has been and still is. “Voting the dead” = Chicago politics — is a very old familiar saying.

The Democratic coronation of the ONE — where were Obama’s old life long friends? Like the ones who knew him from the early days — interviewed in the article? He’s not appointing old personal friends (with a solid reputation) — he is appointing Clinton people.

So WE could see that there was a problem with the Messiah very early. Many of us could see that he was also running the most blatant misogynistic campaign in the history of this country. He helped his “cousin” campaign in Kenya — with no regard to the human rights of women. Which tells me that he has no interest in any concerns of any of his female followers. All he needed were their votes — and he “owes” them nothing.

He is elected and then he ignores his constituents — again this is a pattern that he has repeated time and again — and I’m betting that he will ignore all of his adoring fans while he obeys whoever controls him. Money speaks to Obama and that seems to be the only voice he will listen to — whoever has the money.

Obama is an opportunist of the nth degree. He is a user. He will use people and throw them under a bus faster than you throw away the wrapper on candy. He could not and did not get to where he now is without being massively involved in Illinois politics as usual, which means money/lies/corruption/pay-back/pay-in. He allowed others to mentor/sponsor/father him along the way. Who are all these people who brought Obama to the presidency? He did not just appear on the scene 2 years ago and become president. Someone had to be driving this bus for a long time, and it costs $$$$$ to do so. Who has he made promises to and what promises did he make? The true story of Barack is not found in “Audacity of Hope” or “Dreams from my Father”; those are made-up versions to Obama’s life to cover up his ambition which is monumental, his lies which are also monumental, and his willingness to be a pawn in Illinois politics and throw others in the lions den while he goes laughingly on his way. I would love to hear the TRUE STORY of it all, but I am not holding my breath that it will ever be told.

I am sure that most reporters would have reported the truth these last 20-30 years if they would have been allowed. What we have is Pravda with a spin for the weak minded, disinterested and stupid. If Americans didn’t readily fall for this crap then it wouldn’t be happening. You know if something works then you keep doing it. If it stops working then they would have to try something new. Don’t blame the media and the politiicians. The blame goes squarely on us.

I remember reading from the Rezko trial a quote by Stuart Levine, regarding the “ethics reform,” apparently Levine asked Rezko if the new ethics laws were legitimate, and Rezko told him, openly,(paraphrasing) “no, they’re only for show, a PR effort on behalf of the corrupt to trick the public — business as usual.”

Rezko had full access to the governor, remember, he bragged about it.

    • rolling_thunder

Just as I suspected. Everything NObama does is for show. He says he had his ‘team’ investigate himself…he has done no such thing and the MSM is lieing big time now. Watch for the new flood of made up stories from Blowbama camp and MSM. This corruption is unacceptable to the American people! Found some info on the bill from a November 5th article:

Mr. Obama’s “Plan to Restore Trust in Government” calls for mandatory registration of lobbyists seeking presidential pardons and requires disclosure of all donations to presidential libraries. Both are requirements that were widely discussed after the last-minute pardon of a fugitive financier, Marc Rich, as Mr. Clinton left office in 2001.”

So it sounds like to me, he didn’t limit anything he just made them more accountable in reporting where the money is coming from.

    • touchet

This is a telling article from 2007 to me. This means that right before he ran for president, Mr. Obama had a plan to take out the Clinton’s. He knew that Hillary would be a contender. So he used his political clout to single out One person, Hillary Clinton. The article even quotes him saying that was his main objective. Very Interesting.

Given this information, the idea that he was doing this “for the people” is absurd. It is clear it was totally politically motivated.

Illinois does not require public-affairs firms to register as lobbyists unless they seek to influence officeholders directly.

“There have been reforms in the state, most notably a new ethics law designed to limit the impact of money in politics. It was approved only after Obama, a former state senator, called his one-time mentor, Senate President Emil Jones, and urged its passage.”

The strong word “limit” also bothers me. I haven’t had time to research the bill, but i would wager that bill encompasses more detail than the single word “limit”. I would wager to say it just “changed” the way money was handled rather than limited it, but i would have to do more research on it. Notice the author of the story doesn’t add much detail there–One word to describe the “most notable” ethics reform bill EVER passed in the history of senate, lol.

Umm, correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t every senator need to work with the Senate president to get their bills passed? I mean that like saying that obama went to his boss to get a day off and that was some kind of monumental accomplishment.

The bottom line is, you make crap look and smell good with the right colorfull adjectives. I am sure many many many senators before Obama did the same thing, and many many many more after him will. But, somehow Obama doing it makes it a tremendous task. In addition the wording “most notable”. How was this bill notable? Notice the reporter doesn’t give any detail about how this bill was so “notable” and how it was anymore relevant than other senator’s bills. The reporter shows their bias with this one paragraph. Lets take out the fawning and see what this passage says shall we.

“There have been [other] reforms in the state, a[n] ethics law designed to limit the impact of money in politics. It was approved after Obama, a former state senator, called his Senate President Emil Jones.”

So really all Obama did was his job. Congrats to Obama for calling the president on the phone and saying, “hey boss, I finished that bill and submitted it, could you put it up for a vote, thanks. I guess we should shower praise on him for following proper procedure for bill approval because ya know, it soooooooooo hard to do your job, lol.

      More on the Ethics bill:
The bill was an attempt to curtail the practice of state contractors contributing to politician’s campaign funds. The law is (was?) to go into effect Jan. of 2009. Governor Blagojevich tried unsuccessfully to torpedo the bill and was rumored to have been “encouraging” contractors to make their moves before the deadline for enactment. It is also rumored that this is exactly what got the feds tapping the Gov’s line, which of course led to the headlines we’re now seeing with Obama’s Blagojevich problem.
As stated, Jones was a “mentor” for Obama in up-n-coming years in the Illinois legislature. this quote from TimesOnline”

For almost a year Jones has used his position as leader of the state senate to block anticorruption legislation passed unanimously by the state’s lower house. He has also become embroiled in ethical controversies concerning his wife’s job and his stepson’s business.

Obama, although originally worked on the bill (or at least got credit for working on the Bill), wasn’t backing a last ditch effort to revive the legislation after Blagojevich’s veto (he was running for President by then). State ethics groups running against the clock, pressured Obama to take a position on the reform legislation, which as noted, resulted in a call to Emil (the pressure reminds me of how Obama ended up giving his 2002 speech against the War…).
The question is, why was Obama hesitant to act? What deal did Obama cut to have Jones change his position? And was Obama’s relationship with his “mentor”, given that Emil Jones has his own aura of corruption coupled with his reign in the State Senate?

Another great piece Rev. Amy. It just defies all logic that a middleclass, half AA kid with no pedigree or wealth could just waltz into the corrupt Chicago cesspool and move up the food chain without so much as a speck of poo on him. What, do these Obamabits think he’s some sort savior…wait.

    • Chicago Joe

Andd what may not be appreciated here is how he has managed to reach the socially connected people that he has. Valerie Jarrett and Penny Pritzker, to name a couple. This is the hoi polloi of Chicago society, and how he finagled his way in here is amazing.

      • Chicago Joe

Sorry. I meant hoity toity….or however that is spelled. What I mean to say is that he got linked up with the upper echelons of society despite his work in the poorest neighborhoods as a community organizer. So reaching into those levels of society was intentional. He knew to follow the money.

        • Ferd Berfle

despite his work in the poorest neighborhoods as a community organizer.

I believe pillager is preferred to organizer when commenting about That One.

    Here, I disagree.

The corporate owned press was in the tank for Obama, Clinton portrayed as lying shrew dependent on her husband, IMO, MCcain as a befuddled, elderly man.

I cannot name any truly adverse coverage of Obama, I cannot remember any coverage of the truth.

Obama’s TACTICS did nothing, despite everything, Clinton was STILL ahead in the popular vote, when forced to withdraw.

Obama was handed the election, problem is his kooks they think they got their on their own.

Like Bush, and Cheney, they were given a gift they are unprepared to handle.

    • The Robot

BO constantly attacked Clinton’s character – portraying her as someone dishonest who could not be trusted. The Press played right along in these attacks.

And all the while, BOBO played the “transcendent One.” Of course, it was BOBO who was doing the Bamboozling.

      • Indy G-Dog

And she still won the popular votes, she still won the big states, from NY, to Ca to PA, to Mass.

And I think she would have won the GE, too.

I am a newcomer to Chicago and was in total culture shock by the corruption by both the city and state politics system. I thought Southern politics was ruthless but the “Chicago Way” is an acceptable form of “doing business” here.

When the primaries started I kept telling my friends who supported Obama than I had a hard time accepting Obama and his reform platform. I could not reconcile a politician who wanted to clean up Washington when he emerged and thrive in system as corrupt as the one in Chicago. My friends would feed me the Republican talking points of another scandalous Clinton presidency and nominating Hillary would expose Bill’s personal and financial relationships since he left office.

I do not know how far the federal investigation will go but as it continues I keep thinking that Obama is federal informant since he keeps coming up clean from every probe and everyone around him is going to prison but him.

    John Linder Congressman
Re: Barack Obama eligibility for POTUS
To contact me directly, please visit my Congressional website at http://linder.house.gov/contactjohn/.
If you have received this message in error, please disregard. Thank you.

    Dear Mr. Walker:

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding allegations that U.S. Senator Barack Obama is not a U.S. citizen. I appreciate hearing from you. This story has been percolating in the media for a number of months. Unfortunately, unless Senator Obama produces the documentation on his own, at this time, there is no way to verify if he is in fact a natural born citizen of the United States.
On January 8, 2009, both the U.S. Senate and House shall meet for the purpose of counting and certifying the electoral votes. After the vote has been counted, the President of the Senate shall call for objections. It is at this time that Federal officials in both the House and Senate may object to the certification of President-elect Obama by alleging that he fails to meet the Constitutional requirements to serve as President of the United States. Please be assured that I will continue to monitor this issue very carefully, and I will act when appropriate and necessary
Again, thank you for contacting me. If I can be of further assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to call on me.
    Sincerely, John Linder
    Member of Congress

    WASHINGTON, DC 20515-1007
