Hope and Change Got No Home on the Range

Add the environmentalist camp to the growing list of those waking from the Obie kool-aid with the announcement that the Resident-Select is planning on naming Ken Salazar as Secretary of the Interior. Apparently 150 environmental groups signed a letter to Pampers urging him to nominate Democrat Congressman Raul Grijalva to the post, seeing him as a strong advocate for protection of public lands, and endangered species. These groups are less than hot about Pampers’ Salazar pick.

Kieran Suckling, from the Center for Biological Diversity in Tuscon, is quoted on National Pampers Radio’s “All Things Considered” as saying,

“Ken Salazar is very closely tied to ranching and mining and very traditional, old-time, Western, extraction industries. We were promised that an Obama presidency would bring change.”

Once again, we tried to warn you dingdongs, but did you listen? Noooooo. Any guesses on which pooch is gonna get screwed next?

I predict there will be much howling and gnashing of teeth from all these Obama groups. Each and every one will be tossed under the magical bus because it was never about them. It’s always been about Obama, period. And the scary thing? Most of these rabid supporters never took the time to find out who this man was or what his administration would look like. Blind faith and mega doses of koolaid.

Lots of buyers’ regret in our future.

But hey, don’t blame me. I voted for Hillary, and then the old guy.

The enviros were pushing Raul Grijalva, who has scored a perfect 100 percent on every issue of the “Humane Scorecard” since he has been elected to Congress.

They were against Congressman Mike Thompson (D) whose annual ratings on the “Humane Scorecard” have ranged from a very respectable 58 to 85 percent—but… BUT, and this is important, you are not allowed to vary from the program one iota in the world of progressive politics. BUT, Thompson HUNTS! in addiiton to his (up to) 85% approval rating.

In addition to having a respectable record on animal protection—with the hunting issues being the glaring exception—Thompson also has a solid record on protecting the environment. But he’s never been a leader, or a go-to person for the environmental community on the big fights of the day.

And that is how they bring someone down, damn them with faint praise, and then spread the talking points, the meme, the narrative “he’s never been a leader, or a go-to person”

And they hype their guy Grijalva would bring much-needed hope for wildlife and the environment as Interior Secretary, and not just more of the same.

What it really means is Grijalva will give them what they want, and what they want is free rein. Most, if not all, of the enviro groups have become Predatory Litigants, staffing fleets of lawyers to use the law as a Panzer Unit to destroy their targets, to extort “go away” money by threatening lawsuits against the very deepest pockets they can find… it’s big business, it’s funded by huge Foundations. These are new age con men.

And they have done more to destroy the economy than you can imagine. And lest you think that because the “humane Scorecard” is a good thing because it is the Humane Society, think again… look ‘em up at http://activistcash.com/… just for starters… <i.Despite the words “humane society” on its letterhead, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is not affiliated with your local animal shelter. Despite the omnipresent dogs and cats in its fundraising materials, it’s not an organization that runs spay/neuter programs or takes in stray, neglected, and abused pets. And despite the common image of animal protection agencies as cash-strapped organizations dedicated to animal welfare, HSUS has become the wealthiest animal rights organization on earth.
HSUS is big, rich, and powerful, a “humane society” in name only. And while most local animal shelters are under-funded and unsung, HSUS has accumulated $113 million in assets and built a recognizable brand by capitalizing on the confusion its very name provokes. This misdirection results in an irony of which most animal lovers are unaware: HSUS raises enough money to finance animal shelters in every single state, with money to spare, yet it doesn’t operate a single one anywhere…. read the rest It’s an eye opener

I haven’t looked up this new choice who Obama is appointing, but I will. It will certainly be interesting IF he truly is more centrist.

And, btw – the “Center for Biological Diversity” is one of the worst of the worst.

ARIZONA STAR – Rancher wins $600K in suit against enviros
    By Mitch Tobin
    ARIZONA DAILY STAR

Tucson’s Center for Biological Diversity must pay rancher and banker Jim Chilton $600,000 because the environmental group defamed him with a press release and photos posted on its Web site, a jury decided Friday.

In a 9-1 verdict, jurors in Pima County Superior Court awarded Chilton $100,000 for the harm done to his reputation and Arivaca cattle company. The jury tacked on an additional $500,000 in punitive damages meant to punish the center and deter others from committing libel.

Chilton, whose wife, Sue, is chairwoman of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission, sued the center over material that alleged he mismanaged his 21,500-acre Forest Service allotment, northwest of Nogales.

Many of the center’s 21 photos depicted barren patches that captions described as “denuded” by cows. But Chilton’s lawyer showed jurors wide-angle photos taken at the same locations that revealed the surroundings as worthy of a postcard, with oaks and mesquites dotting lush, rolling hills.… tip of the iceberg.

  • JozefAL

I’m curious as to why the HUSBAND of the “chairwoman of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission” even HAS a “21,500-acre Forest Service allotment”. That sounds to me like a bit of a conflict of interest. The man should not have ANY type of government-issued “allotment” while his wife is the chair of a commission which would have some connections with the agency in charge. (I imagine that the state Game and Fish Commission has some connection with the Forest Service, even if merely tangential.)
Incidentally, did Mr Chilton have this “allotment” BEFORE his wife became the chair of the Game and Fish Commission or did he “manage” to get it AFTER she got her position?

I need more information on these individuals.

HOWEVER — it would not surprise me at all of the guy Obama chooses had somehow bought the damned job — and the corporations will be happy — to hell with the well being of the land, humans or wild life.

Public lands, owned by all of us — are simply seen as property to be looted by many of the major corporations. Corporations only seem to care about their next quarter’s bottom line. Not all corporations are bad — but the ones that bought and paid for Obama are damned evil — and we probably won’t know for YEARS what percentage of Obama each corporation owns.

I’m from the west where the Fed Government owns a lot of the land. Problem is that the land hasn’t been managed wisely — roads are build and paid for by the tax payers and used by corporate interests — for logging etc.

The Secretary of the Interior is also in charge (control) of American Indian land — and talk about a mismanaged mess. The vast majority of Interior Sec. had no understanding nor comprehension of Indian culture etc. etc. The sad story of the mismanagement and looting of American Indian’s land and mineral rights can be found in several books.

This is a critical choice for the Native American/American Indians — and as a general rule the stupid ass Presidents rarely if ever consult with the tribes.

To be honest did any of us ever believe that Obama would make a wise choice when it comes to the continued looting of our resources — or a wise choice for American Indians???

Why the hell is he so damned predictable?????

    Screech — slam door — *&*^&€$&* –

  • http://watchpaul.blogspot.com Rose

The thing with Chilton, is that the “Center for Biological Diversity” targeted him – and did it dishonestly. they used edited photos. It’s a common tactic. this time they ran into someone who fought back rather than pay the “go away” money. The enviro groups rely on those settlements – they threaten a lawsuit, and the prey pays out huge settlements in order to avoid even more costly court and litigation costs.

In some cases, the enviro group then uses the ill gotten gains to set up a new “group” who in turn files a suit (this is especially lucrative if the terms of the settlement say that the first group can’t sue again within a certain time period.

The secondary “groups” are called “projects” – this makes them harder to track. The 990s are filed by the predatory litigious parent org.

I’m not surprised that Obama would continue anything that Bush has started, because I think they are very alike. They have more in common–including blood relations–than they don’t have.

The French have a saying that I think applies: The more things change, the more they stay the same. Obama’s “change” is just a redo of how Bush has operated and his ties of money….It’s more of money talks. It may be different sources of money, but in many cases, it is even the same sources of money, all of which just leads to corruption and less democracy for the rest.

  • Andrew P

Early this year before the Nevada caucuses, 0 announced that he supported revisions to the Bureau of Land Management Organic Act of 1872 that would give mining interests almost unlimited license to exploit public lands in the West. No one with environmentalist leanings favored this legislation (Hillary Clinton just said No), and it should have been a wake-up call. I responded to the celebratory e-mail I received from the National Resources Defense Council on Nov 6 about the election results with a pithy suggestion as to what they and 0 could do to themselves.

  • bemused

I last gave money to HSUS years ago. $40. And for years, they sent me letters, mugs, umbrellas, notepads, stickers. I wrote them letters of increasing rudeness, couldn’t get it to stop. They more than wasted that $40 trying to get me to pay more.

Grijalva was all over O from the first, like Napolitano, our governor. Got a nice donation, I think. Too bad if he got left out.

    Natural Resources Defense Council
Also known as a “project” of the Tides Foundation

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the utility infielder of nanny groups. Because its name implies a wide-ranging universe of issues, the group can be counted on to inject itself into just about any debate where there’s an environmental argument to be made.

These groups are getting change. They are no longer being screwed by Bush. They are getting screwed by Obama.

But figure it out. Who has more money to “invest” in an Obama Presidency? Ranchers and miners or environmental groups?

    Follow the money.

  • http://powerandcontrol.blogspot.com M. Simon

I voted for the old guy too. Not because I thought he was much better (other than the corruption angle) but because I knew what I was getting.

Zero changed his story by the hour. Some times by the minute. Some times in the same sentence.
