“Totally Synced Up”

That’s what one of Obama’s speechwriters said about Jon Favreau in this Washington Post article, Helping to Write History. That Obama and Favreau are “synced up.” Well, that sure helps to explain a lot of things. Ahem. Yes, Mr. Favreau is currently hard at work writing Obama’s big Inaugural speech. Um, surely the Obots did not think Obama was writing it himself, did they? Oh, I bet they did. Anywho, I find the very beginning of this article to be interesting (read: full of hooey):

The job requires him to work unnoticed, even in plain view, so Jon Favreau settles into a wooden chair at a busy Starbucks in the center of Penn Quarter. Deadline looms, and he needs to write at least half a page by the end of the day. As the espresso machines whir, Favreau opens his laptop, calls up a document titled “rough draft of inaugural” and goes to work on the most anticipated speech of Barack Obama’s life.

Isn’t this the very same paper that published THIS photo of Favreau:

And they think no one recognizes him? Yeah, okay. This is the extent of the Post’s dealing with that reprehensible action by Favreau and his buddy:

Especially now, as Favreau and the rest of Obama’s young staffers begin a transition that extends far beyond new job titles. Three months ago, Favreau lived in a group house with six friends in Chicago, where he rarely shaved, never cooked and sometimes stayed up to play video games until early morning. Now, he has transformed into what one friend called a “Washington political force” — a minor celebrity with a down payment on a Dupont Circle condo, whose silly Facebook photos with a Hillary Rodham Clinton cutout created what passes for controversy in Obama’s so far drama-free transition.

Blech. Blech. BLECH. The author completely dismisses the blatant sexism demonstrated by Jon Favreay. In his mind, it’s just a silly little thing. Yes, Teflon Man isn’t touched by ANYTHING, it seems, even the degrading treatment of his Secretary of State to be! Grrr.

Not to quibble, but the author thinks this has been a drama-free transition?? I guess this is where the MSM tells us what to think rather than report what actually happened. I am pretty sure more than a few people were shocked – SHOCKED – by Obama’s choice of Secretary for State, for example. Dr. Rice? Susan Powers?? GATES (not that he was a bad choice, but all of those folks who thought Obama was going to immediately cease the Iraq war must have had mini-head explosions)? Bill Richardson, also under investigation for “Pay for Play”?? Seems like they are continuing to redefine words, just like they did for Bush. Now, surprise and outrage at choices will be considered “drama free”! Wow. Just sayin’.

Now, a whole lot of this article is singing Favreau’s praises, so feel free to go read it for yourself. But there are several quotes that deal directly with the relationship between Obama and Favreau:

During the campaign, the buzz-cut 27-year-old at the corner table helped write and edit some of the most memorable speeches of any recent presidential candidate. When Obama moves to the White House next month, Favreau will join his staff as the youngest person ever to be selected as chief speechwriter. He helps shape almost every word Obama says, yet the two men have formed a concert so harmonized that Favreau’s own voice disappears.

“He looks like he’s in college and everybody calls him Favs, so you’re like, ‘This guy can’t be for real, right?’ ” said Ben Rhodes, another Obama speechwriter. “But it doesn’t take long to realize that he’s totally synced up with Obama. . . . He has access to everything and everybody. There’s a lot weighing on his shoulders.”

Ah, yes, Favreau and Obama are all linked up:

Still more daunting is the list of things Favreau can’t think about as he writes the inaugural. He went for a run to the Lincoln Memorial last month and stopped in his tracks when he imagined the mall packed with 3 million people listening to some of his words. A few weeks later, Favreau winced when Obama spokesman Bill Burton reminded him: “Dude, what you’re writing is going to be hung up in people’s living rooms!”

Oh, but just wait. It gets better: Obama sometimes jokes that Favreau is not so much a speechwriter as a mind reader.

He carries Obama’s 1995 autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” with him almost everywhere and has memorized most of his famous keynote speech from the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He has mastered Obama’s writing style — short, elegant sentences — and internalized his boss’s tendency toward reflection and ideological balance.

So, let’s be crystal clear here: all of those speeches that had people fawning all over Obama were written by a 27 yr old who lived in a house with 6 other people, often playing video games into all hours of the night (according to the article). And this man is completely simpatico with Obama. Competely:

In four years together, Obama and Favreau have perfected their writing process. Before most speeches, Obama meets with Favreau for an hour to explain what he wants to say. Favreau types notes on his laptop and takes a crack at the first draft. Obama edits and rewrites portions himself — he is the better writer, Favreau insists — and they usually work through final revisions together. If Favreau looks stressed, Obama sometimes reassures him: “Don’t worry. I’m a writer, too, and I know that sometimes the muse hits you and sometimes it doesn’t. We’ll figure it out together.”

“The president-elect understands that Jon is a rare talent. He knows what he’s got,” said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor, who also worked in the Senate office. “There’s a mutual respect and appreciation between them, and the president-elect trusts Jon’s instincts and ability. It’s a partnership.”

Wow. Oh, the article goes on and on about Favreau, probably more information than you really want to know about this 27 year old who acted in an incredibly sexist manner toward Hillary Clinton.

Oh, and Favreau wrote the speech on race, too, with a little retooling from Obama. Huh. I wonder if Favreau also wrote Obama’s “listen to what I say, not what I do” speech at his recent press conference, detailed in this Washington Post article, defense for why he chose Rick Warren to give his Inaugural Invocation:

President-elect Barack Obama this morning defended his choice of evangelical megapastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at next month’s swearing-in, saying that although he differs with the conservative pastor on social issues, he wants to have diverse voices at the ceremony.

“I am a fierce advocate of equality for gay and lesbian Americans. It is something that I have been consistent on, and I intend to continue to be consistent on during my presidency,” Obama said at a morning news conference to announce several financial appointments. “What I’ve also said is that it is important for America to come together, even though we may have disagreements on certain social issues…

“During the course of the entire inaugural festivities, there are going to be a wide range of viewpoints that are presented,” Obama said. “And that’s how it should be, because that’s what America is about. Part of the magic of this country is that we are diverse and noisy and opinionated…

Obama added: “That dialogue, I think, is part of what my campaign’s been all about: That we’re not going to agree on every single issue, but what we have to do is be able to create an atmosphere where we can disagree without being disagreeable and then focus on those things that we hold in common as Americans.”

Oh, well, okay. So we are not supposed to pay attention to what you DO, but what you say. And those of us who continue to be oppressed in this country should just go ahead and take it because Obama wants “diverse voices” at his inauguration. He thinks we should just go along to get along. Because THAT has worked out so well in the past. Hahahaha.

Apparently, Favreau and Obama don’t understand that some of us actually do see through these false claims. When Obama, not his transition committee, but OBAMA, picks this minister to give the invocation out of ALL of the ministers in this entire country, then tells us that we should just take this huge slap in the face because, in his most patronizing fashion, we should just be able to accept differences.

See, it’s OUR problem, not Obama’s, for choosing this man. WE just need to get over it, and stop being upset that Obama purposely chose a minister who is opposed to same sex marriage, who is a creationist who thinks homosexuality should have already been weeded out of the gene pool (H/T to AF Catfish, alert NQ reader, and who is anti-choice. Once we let go that Obama surrounds himself with homophobes in the name of diversity, this won’t be upsetting to us anymore. Got that? Good – lay off the man already, he’s just trying to Unite us, after all, by choosing this Divider to kick off his gala. And if you don’t get it this time, maybe the next speech Favreau writes will convince you. If not, Obama will re-tool it and sprinkle magic dust or something on it so you won’t remember all of the other crap he’s pulled. Hey, it’s worked before for the ‘N Sync team of Obama/Favreau, I’m sure it will work again.

What a load of manure — enough to fertilize all of Kansas!

So this good buddy of Obama is trying to tell us that Obama writes his own stuff and eve edits?? sure! This is the same line of bs we’ve heard about bush — who is another teleprompter kind of guy.

As someone said on another blog — Obama could never fire his speech writer — because this kid creates the illusion of Obama — this kid writes the words, spoken by the “eloquent” speaker — this kids IS Obama.

They seem to have an even more special relationship then Obama & the mrs.

Strange — pathetic — because the 0bots are really going to believe this manure.

Seems O. wants now to use his middle name, Barrack Hussein Obama.

Similarly, let’s call the guy Jon Groper Favreau.

  • Ferd Berfle

“Don’t worry. I’m a writer, too, and I know that sometimes the muse hits you and sometimes it doesn’t. We’ll figure it out together.”

So That One considers himself writer. The first clue he isn’t is the enormous length of time it takes him to get to any sort of identifiable point. Squishy, feel-good, send-a-tingle-up-Chris’-leg oral flatulence is no substitute for outlining an objective, verifiable process where we get from point A, where we are now, to point B, where we desire to be. His speeches, stilted and invincible in their profound naivete, sound as though they were written by a college sophomore. Is Favreaux the second-year student or is That One? I think the muse struck out, either way.

There’s nothing much biographical in the article about Fareau. Has he ever held a real job? Is there something in his background that gives him a depth of understanding about – anything?

Such emptiness. Such nothingness. Empty suit, empty words.

Similarly, let’s call the guy Jon Groper Favreau.

I listened to 4 of barkys speeches during the primary. I hated his ideas (on education, forced volunteer service); hated the way he obfuscated on issues like Iraq & the middle east; hated the way he talked about Hillary; hated his delivery with its arrogant, snooty tone; & really hated those dumbass slogans like “yes we can” & “we’re the ones we’ve been waiting for”!

And now this Bill Burton thinks we’re going to hang this punks silly claptrap on our living room walls?!? Not a fucking chance! In fact, unless I read some funny blurb on this or some other site, we are done with barky speeches in this house. We intend to spend the next four years avoiding his & punky favreaus speeches.

  • Ferd Berfle

For sure. I’d rather listen to Dubya fracture the English language than That One torture it into submission.

I don’t know if any of y’all have seen BIll Burton on tv, but oh, my – he is something else – arrogant, cocky, condescending as all get out. I could not BELIEVE he was Obama’s spokesperson and people didn’t get a clue abt Obama from that choice.

Same with these speeches. And, since Favreau is only 27, has been working for Obama for 4 years, that doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for a “real” job out among the majority of people. So, yeah, I’m not hinking his “life experience” is all that extensive. But apparently, people don’t want a real leader, with real qualifications, real ideas, and real commitments to the people…Oh, wait, yes they DID – the DNC didn’t want all of that, and instead pushed this (these) guy(s) on us.

Can I just say, too, in terms of the whole Obama/Favreau/Warren thing, it astonishes me the people who think I should be happy abt their friends going to the inauguration, or their kid playing in a band at the inauguration. This man treats women and GLBT like CRAP, and I’m supposed to be happy that he lied, cheated, stole his way to this position along with treating many people so horribly, and that someone they know gets to witness his coronation??

What it goes to show me is that long-time friends in my life simply do not get how offensive Obama’s treatment of the GLBT community is to me. They just do not get it. Or care, apparently.

And, they do not get why his treatment of women is so degrading to all women (that goes for some women followers of his, too), and that THEY Should be upset, too.

Yep – for the next 4 yrs, some young sexist punk is going to be the voice of Obama, just like he has been with his empty platitudes for the past 4 years. Think of ALL the people you know who bought this guy’s BS. Shocking…

eww. I am so freaking sick of the Kennedys.

  • Andrew P

I am a writer, and I teach writing at a university. This fall I used Favreau/0′s race speech to illustrate what I meant by “false parallel.” I didn’t name the speaker, though I’m sure most of them knew who it was. I drew a line down the center of the chalkboard and on one side I wrote down the examples they volunteered of similarities between their pastor, if they had one, and their grandmother. Then I asked for examples of differences. It took a few minutes, but it was worth the wait when the meekest girl in class called out in a strong, clear voice:

“You choose your pastor. You don’t choose your grandma.”

The greatest rewards of teaching are those rare moments when you practically see the light bulbs switching on above their heads. That was one of them.

  • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

I happen to know that The One is going to write his inauguration speech on the back of an envelope during his inspiring Lincolnesque train ride.

  • Andrew P

Well, Rev, as you well know, our place at the back of the bus is taken for granted by most Americans. Look no farther than some of the recent comments on NQ about Rick Warren. Time and again, “I have no sympathy for these people, they should have known.” That is the first thing off their fingertips at the keyboard.

Folks, 27% of “these people” are estimated to have voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin. That compares to 11% of registered Democrats. But who gets the blanket condemnation, right off the bat?

Who else? And who cares if the constitution of the largest state in the country granted them rights that the (Democratic) voters took away? What’s the big deal?

  • oowawa

Why, bert! How cynical of you! (funny, though!) The really sad part is that so many people are not even going to have “living rooms” anymore.

  • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Great point, Andrew. My frustration is with fellow members of the community who did not stand up to the ascension of Obama through ill-gotten ways, and jumped on the Hopey Changey Unicorny bandwagon. Like Rachel Maddow, who has been pushing Obama since the EARLY primaries despite ALL the information abt him and the GLBT community. It’s the continuation of people voting against teir own self-interest.

Andrew, that was a fantastic story you told above. Thank you so much for that!

Andrew P, thanks for the moving anecdote. You sound like a good teacher. You were illustrating the concept of “false parallels.” I think that logical fallacies need to be taught thoroughly and extensively, paticularly in lit-writing-English classes. Jon Favreau uses logical fallacies extensively and perniciously, and it is a shame that so many are taken in by these devices.

It amazes me how easily the lines of history get blurred at such a quick pace these days. Yet it seems as though no one is paying attention to the re-writes.
When Obama was getting attacked over his decade long, close relationship with an America hating bigot, he decided to try and sweet talk his way out of it, using Philadelphia and the Declaration of Independence as props for his “best speech eva”, the “speech on race”.
Now, if you remember like I do, the fuss over this speech was that Obama wrote it himself, in only two days! There wasn’t any mention of any snot nosed twenty seven year old, misogynist creeps writing “the best speech eva”. It was all Obama’s work, we were told. (for your amusement, Google “obama wrote speech on race” to see what his mindless supporters were saying about it. also google “This wasn’t a speech by committee… Obama wrote the speech himself, working on it for two days and nights…. and showed it to only a few of his top advisers.”)
Now it comes out as a throw away line in an article that Obama didn’t write the Rev Wright excuse speech, also known as the speech on race, himself. The snot nosed, hardcore gamer wrote it for him. But there’s no mention in the same article about this inconsistency.
But the article does say that after Obama gave the best speech eva, that he said to Favreau: “So,” Obama told Favreau afterward. “I think that worked.” Got that? Obama thinks the speech “worked”. How so, Obama? It’s obvious what Obama meant. After the speech, he was confident that he just sweet talked his way out of his Rev Wright fiasco. You can’t get any more insincere than that, yet no one can see this, even though it is so obvious to sentient beings.
Amazon.com is selling “the best speech eva” for $15 bucks. I wonder who is pocketing this money, and whether or not Favreau is getting his cut. If he isn’t, then he’s a real stooge.

Oh wait — that can’t be overprivileged greedy sexist young white male frat pigs, because CK just said that is why she wants Hillary’s senate seat — ‘because of my family name, and because having raised a family I want to make a difference.’

Anyway, I thought Biden looked like he might not make it for 8 years as VP and at some point Obama will choose someone to take his place. My prediction is that he will pick Caroline Kennedy to take over for Joe B. if O remains eligible to run for a second term. Then she will be the next Democratic candidate for president. I would say Fabreau may be smart but but he has no manners, he is uneducated in the real sense of the word. No wonder Obama’s speeches are devoid of sincerity. Fabreau should be out of the White House. The American people don’t deserve his words to influence American thinking for years to come when he does not have the ability even to know basic sense of propriety. He better write fiction, he would be very good in that genre. As a speechwriter for the POTUS, no. Whenever you hear Obama speak, Fabs’ disgusting pose comes to your mind and the credibility is gone.

What a child. What an absolute child.

The inauguration of the President of the United States is a civic ritual and a historic moment that has nothing to do with your widdle hurt feelings over losing.

Have you noticed that the economy is in crisis? The game was the game, and America made its choice, and most sensible people (including Hillary Clinton and John McCain) are moving forward.

“Salt-in-your-wounds?” Annie… it WASN’T ABOUT YOU! Get over yourself!

  • oowawa

The best thing you guys can do is to not turn on any news channel or go online to any major media source the day of the inauguration.

LOL–Okay Touchet, you convinced me! Of course, you’re preaching to the choir here. I imagine half of us have already lost our remote ccntrols. I do, however, expect to visit NQ on inauguration day. The Snark Factor hereabouts should be off the charts on and around Jan. 20.

  • Ferd Berfle

You are the one who needs to get over yourself, sanctimonious bot. I won’t be watching it, either, as I find him to be a pretender much like the man he is replacing. He is president in name only, as far as I’m concerned and that has nothing to do with hurt feelings over losing, irrespective of you hasty and false generalizations to the contrary. In addition, oh shallow one, this isn’t a game.

Your opinions, like all odoriferous rubbish, should be sent directly to the nearest landfill for entombment.

  • Ferd Berfle

I imagine half of us have already lost our remote ccntrols.

I have deprogrammed all news channels on my remote. I’ll get my news from online sources I trust and not from the collective mass media. Even Fox has returned to being Faux News.

I felt all along that he was essentially an actor.

And Bill Clinton wasn’t? Ronald Reagan wasn’t?

You’re just now coming to understand that electoral politics at the elite level is about artful communication and tapping into the feelings of the masses? Wow. Okay.

Meanwhile, what of his deeds? How about that Cabinet Obama has put together? How about the abundance of brilliant women in that Cabinet?

  • NoTrollZone

    Andrew! Right on.

They certainly are in synch. Favreau knew he could openly insult Hillary and get a pass from fearless pig leader and the MSM, and he did.

You could bet that BS Peabody if you want.

  • Astra14

If anyone had told me that after eight years of Bush, I’d be wishing for another four years of him, I would have told them they were insane!!! Now, I’d take four more years of Bush/Cheney then four years of Obama and his sick, puppy Favreau. And there’s no way I’d be able to listen or watch Obama without the picture of Favreau and his buddy and the Hillary cutout popping in my mind – and it makes me sick. I wasn’t planning on watching Obama anyway, even if he did write his own speeches, but now it’s clear he’s got the immature frat boy and the whole thing is an even more horrible nightmare. Immaturity is going to reign for the next four years!

Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich (who admitted this during a tv interview) both cheated on their wives. I’m not condoning that, but it didn’t lead to the misogyny and the enabling of abusers as Obama and Favreau’s actions and words (and lack of words) have caused in this election season – and beyond.

January 20th I will not be watching tv. I’ll be praying hard for this country and hunkering down for the oncoming storm. This country is in economic trouble and Congress is after a pay raise!!!! More troops are going to Afghanistan – hope the kids like the upcoming draft because where is O going to get more soldiers otherwise and to solve the employment problem at the same time? All I can envision now is four years of a nightmare with the kids running the country without a clue. Abe Lincoln must be rolling over in his grave!!!!

Thanks for setting the record straight that Obama did not write his race speech. Of course, the clowns at Google are always rewriting or scrubbing BO’s history.

OIAF – Great posts! I’m doing housework around the days of his inauguration.

BO reminds of President Nixon except Obama is far more sinister. When Watergate happened it took two years for Nixon to resign. It will take time to connect the dots between Rezko, Blago, Acorn and others. If you notice at BO’s press conferences, he tries to “act” presidential. I agree with Rush Limbaugh that the “drive-by” media is getting tired of Obama avoiding tough questions.

Finally, Joe Scarborough on the Dec. 16 Morning Show started questioning the media’s tactic of investigating Palin instead of sending reporters to Chicago to scrutinize a guy that had only been in the Senate for 1 year before he decided to run for President.

His ego will prevent him from actually DOING anything to heal the country. He only cares about himself and his own hatred of America. This “administration” ALREADY has more scandal and negativity attached to it BEFORE it goes to work than any in history. Those are FACTS, not the rantings of a bunch of malcontents. When you get off the crack pipe you share with the Fraud, you too will see what a travesty this is for America. As I have said before, diarrhea is a fact of life. I am at the point where before I date ANYONE I tell them…do NOT bother asking me out if 1) You don’t want 100 dogs in you life and 2) You are a liberal/progressive who supports the Fraud. Either of those will be a 100% dealbreaker and I won’t do it. Now, when these people wake up and realize what they have done to America, and wish they had their votes back I will consider it. But unless and until that happens I won’t even give my number to a Fraudbama supporter. PERIOD.

  • obamastolemyboyfriend(akaCsuzeq)

Yep. It’s all about the money thay can make off of him. On CNN today, I saw they are selling t-shirts. You can buy a t-shirt with any headline you want. The example they used was, Obama makes history. Nice. Everyone is grabbing up every dime they can make off this fucker now because soon they sparkles will wear off and no one will want to have anything Odrama and will never admit they voted for the boob!

  • JozefAL

Well, don’t forget that, according to the exit poll results, it was the African-American voter who voted FOR bigotry, even the AA voter who voted FOR “the One”. What’s more damning–and what so many African-Americans want to ignore–is the conservative Black ministers who publicly stated how “historic” it would be for a Black President and they would vote for Obama despite his “liberal agenda” yet preached AGAINST same-sex marriage. No, according to these apologists, they have to highlight how “few” they were as a voting population to escape the blame while completely ignoring that the AA vote for Prop 8 showed the most lopsided support. (A 40 percentage point margin of difference supporting Prop 8 which was the African-American margin, according to the exit poll, is far worse than a 6 percentage point margin of difference opposing Prop 8 no matter the hard number of voters.)

  • obamastolemyboyfriend(akaCsuzeq)

I have a 17 year old son and Odrama isn’t getting him for no draft. We’re willing to leave this stupid country or do jail time if need be.

Jail time won’t look so bad when we are liing on the streets and can’t afford anything to eat! In Obama’s jail, we may only get bread and water or soup or something (arugala?), but at least we’ll get something!

God save us! I have seen Obama on tv briefly in recent days and I have to say, the man doesn’t look well. I admit I am hoping he doesn’t even make it to the 20th! Really, heart attacks, drug overdoses, aneurysms, those things do happen! This would be an awesome turn of events.

To be fair, I heard the same things from the Bush supporters when he was selected in 2000. About getting over it…blah, blah, blah.

So while you want to respect the inaugurations of the United States. The Constitution and other laws, apparently, aren’t as important. The Democrats pulling the same selection tricks doesn’t make it any more justified.

And remember, it was accepting lies which brought us the Bush selection and lead to the Iraq war.

So now you do the same, to other Democrats, no less. Pointing ahead, chastising people to pay proper respect to the office, as if the lies don’t matter. How long will you continue do that for Obama? As long as the Bush faithful have for him?

If we didn’t support Bush and the war we were unpatriotic whiners. That this was a ‘post 9/11 world’ and there wasn’t time for such discussions.

While during this campaign, and probably for the rest of time, if we don’t support Obama we are racists. Now switching back to the Republican’s tricks. Then mocking/with faux indignation claim. We don’t respect the office selection. We are unpatriotic and childish especially during this ‘economic crisis’.

Geez…doesn’t it creep you out to follow the 1998-2006 Republican rule book so closely?

    LOL

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com/ obamastolemyboyfriend(akaCsuzeq)

I agree. I put right out there that I can’t stand Odrama and if the guy says, “Oh, well, I didn’t believe all the stuff he said, but I figured he is less harmful than McCain so I voted for him, that is the end of the conversation/date/friendship. It tells me exactly what kind of person they are and that is ignorant and messed up in the head.

I am glad to be rid of my bot boyfriend now, too. If someone is meant to be with me, they would have cared about how wrong the Primary went and not supported a man who cheats, lies and steals!

I will not vote an Obama voter! Period. There is no acceptable reason to have voted for him.

  • JozefAL

I just wonder if anyone else has asked this question: Why would Obama, out of ALL the potential speechwriters that he could have hired, select a WHITE BOY? How does Favreau “understand” Obama? Obama (supposedly) spent years at Trinity in an effort to become more connected with the African-American community but the guy he has for a speechwriter is a white frat boy?
Have NO African-American leaders commented on the seeming irony of the “first Black President” relying on words written by (yet another) White guy?
I fully understand that virtually every single President has relied on the speechwriting skills of others (almost all of whom have labored doing so in virtual anonymity) but for Obama to rely on a guy nearly half his age to craft the speeches (no matter how much “input” Obama actually has in the final drafting) seems incredulous, especially when that speechwriter is not of “the community” to which Obama spent so many years in trying to belong.

  • http://baddemocrat08.wordpress.com/ obamastolemyboyfriend(akaCsuzeq)

I didn’t get over it in 2000 and I won’t get over it now. The only difference between Bush and That One is superficial, i.e., skin-deep.

  • JozefAL

Oh, and given Favreau’s frat boy mentality, I’m surprised he hasn’t spent the past few years writing for Dubya. (That groping of Hillary cut-out actually made me think of Dubya’s little “inappropriate PDA” with the German Chancellor a few years back.)

Opposition to Obama must be racism, nobody could possibly oppose him based on:

    1. Spending 20 years in a racist church and then lying to America when he said he didnt know of any of the racist ramblings.

    2. In his role as a “Community Organizer”, sending taxpayer money to fund the training of public school teachers in Wright’s disgusting racist rhetoric.

    3. His ultra-liberal voting record in the Senate.

    4. His sudden shift to the center on just about every issue.

    5. His appointment of the dumbest VP of all-time.

    6. His lack of accomplishments in 4 years in the Senate. Just two of the bills that he sponsored were passed, one was the completely uncontroverial bill to end hunger in the Congo, the other was the renaming of a post.

    7. His claims of being the great uniter, having the ability to get all sides to work together, yet he doesnt have one example of working with the other side on something important.

    8. His naming of Clinton Yes-man Eric Holder as AG. Holder was the pigeon that Clinton used to sign off of the pardon of scumbag, Marc Rich.

    9. The naming of a washed-up, bunch of has-beens to his Cabinet. All were part of the corrupt and overrated Clinton administration.

    10. The naming of Hillary Clinton, and thus Bill, to the Secretary of State despite all of Bill’s shady foreign dealings.

    11. Already going back on campaign promises to end the war, close Guantanamo, and raise taxes.

    12. Keeping the Secretary of Defense from the Bush administration despite criticizing the war.

    13. Shady connection to Tony Rezco and ACORN.

Yeah it must be racism, none of the above is legitimate criticism.

Looking back on Obama’s 2004 speech, which even I thought was a great speech at the time, it sounds so dated and stale and simplistic now. Other great speeches, you hear something new each time you hear them (Kennedy’s inaugural speech is an example.)

These speeches Obama gives are not good! They are schlocky sachariney amateur screeds.

Because Obama’s voice does something weird to me I have to read the transcripts of his speeches instead of listen to them.

I’ve noticed for months that he often misreads history (his Berlin speech was a prime example. He doesn’t understand why the Cold War ended. He doesn’t seem to understand what the Cold War even was! He most definitely didn’t understand Kennedy’s Berlin speech.) He rarely mentions history.

His race speech was a joke – he mentions Geraldine Ferraro but gives no credit to her being the first female Veep candidate.

That he is totally synced up with this 27-year-old who plays video games does not surprise me at all, sadly.

  • rolling_thunder

Prez select is in violation of US Constitution. Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., is a foreign national from Africa Kenya. Obama is not a U.S. citizen and can not be President. The U.S. Constitution requires that solely a person being a native born US citizen to be President. It is unconscionable that a President fears showing his alleged U.S Birth certificate to the American public. Therefore, all acts signed by Obama, and all appointments made, are null and void Ab initio as Obama has no powers pursuant to the U.S Constitution to act as President.

She and my stepfather would have told Fraudbama to Go F**k himself if he EVER tried to stop me from going to college after High School, and entering into his little Hitler experiment of this nonsense youth military. NO WAY IN HELL are people going to tolerate that moron and Ballet Rahm stopping kids from getting their educations if and when they want. My parents would leave the country too. I bet my house that once the Fraud starts his deranged, mentally ill “agenda” that people who CAN leave and take their money, assets, etc. leave this Sh*thole and take it all with them. The big thing Fraudbama has in common with his loverboy Chavez is that Venezuela lost its wealthy for the same reasons. That Dutch comment is exactly why people have no business in other people’s personal/intimate lives.

Obviously, the Dutch troll has no experience in intimate relations and cannot speak from personal history. Only a person who has never been in a relationship, much less married would make a remark like that. Anyone who is or has been married knows the ‘ups and downs’ of relationships and the struggle that couples confront on regular basis to simply get along. People in the trenches of marriage/relationship understand there is no cut and dry explanation as to why couples routinely fall off the path of being able to adhere to even the simplest measures of mutual respect. Anyone who can claim that they NEVER once spoke to a significant other in a harsh tone or spoke words that they later regretted is, in a word, a LIAR!

I’m sure Bill Clinton regrets his actions deeply if only because of the relentless rubbing of his face in the reprehensible action of infidelity that so many will NEVER let him live down or forget, and who take an extreme degree of relish and delight in the constant reminding. (I know I would if it was me.)

But the real deal is that these trolls honestly believe that throwing Bill Clinton’s infidelity on the table EVERY TIME is a sufficient enough argument to shut any discussion down. Well, I guess that’s to be expected from people who have no critical thinking skills.

    Sorry, but no dice.

Favreau and his chum in the picture have absolutely no explanation for their continued obsession with Hillary Clinton. The excuse of good-natured joking doesn’t cut it. It speaks of deep-seated hostility towards women.

Why aren’t they over it? Why can’t they get over it? Why haven’t they moved on?

And so, Favreau can write on. His Inaugural Address will be just shallow and superficial words that will fall hollow. There is NOTHING deep that could come from the brain/mind of this souless creep. And I will will be picking every word apart lest he and 0bama think that there will be even ONE sentence that will live on in posterity.

    Favreau should have been fired.

Obama and his crowd of supporters don’t think so.

    We’ll see about that.

We’ll see exactly how long he keeps his job once the ball gets rolling.

I predict he will be among the first sacrificial lambs marched out to slaughter when the 0ne’s approval numbers start tanking.

According to the exit polls, the margin of difference was less than 10 percentage points between the Yes on 8 and the No on 8 vote among Latino voters.
The AA margin was 40 percentage points. And Latino voters represented only about 18% of the total vote while AA voters accounted for about 10%. Taking a sample of 10000 total voters, those numbers would break down as such:
    1800 Latino voters/1000 AA voters
990 Latino votes for Prop 8 (based on a 55% Yes rate)/700 AA votes for Prop 8
810 Latino votes against Prop 8 (based on a 45% No rate)/300 AA votes against Prop 8
While that does show that “more” Latinos voted “Yes” on Prop 8, they also start off with MORE overall voters–the corollary is that more Latinos voted “No” on Prop 8 as well. When you compare the whole numbers though, the ratio of Latino to AA votes on each breaks down as almost 10:7 “Yes on 8″ but more than 8:3 “No on 8″. The ratios help to put the numbers in a better perspective.
I still say that if the AA vote on Prop 8 had been more in line with the other ethnic categories (IOW, within a 10 percentage point margin), Prop 8 could have been defeated, even if the AA margin had leaned in favor of Prop 8.

Tell me, UBM, did you watch Bush’s Inauguration?

    I didn’t.

    So spare me your sanctimony.

Elections are about US! We are the voters. The electorate.

He cheated his way to the presidency.

So let him ride his train to Washington have his Inauguration moment. It will be without me.

The shit is hitting the fan in this country, in the world and all 0bama, his Botheads, the msm can think about is selling this as an historic moment.

    Barf!

I’d like to think that if Hillary had won, she would have scaled her Inauguration down to the most minimal event possible in deference to all the people who have lost their homes, jobs, and their lives due to the Iraq War. Ditto John McCain.

This is a roll-your-sleeves up kind of moment in history. Not a time for celebration of any kind.

Have any of you seen how empty the malls have been this year? It’s freakin unbelievable and it spells doom for our economy because there’s going to be a domino effect of bankruptcies, company closings and job losses.

I don’t know about anyone else, but for the first time in my life, I’m actually afraid.

  • Malcolm

……..did any of you read the article? Faverau takes Obama’s conversations and brainstorming sessions and turns them into speeches. He isn’t pulling it out of the air. Obama writes more of his public remarks than probably any President (or President-Elect) other than Bill Clinton. He writes MUCH more of his own material than McCain or Palin (obviously) did.

Also Sam I’m not sure where you get your information from but this is Obama’s third vacation since last fall. And since then, he’s won the nomination (yeah I know it still stings) and then the election, so personally I don’t begrudge him four days in Hawaii.

Also you say ‘paradise’ like you are Sarah Palin and you’re trying to make me think Obama is a furrniner. He’s from there. He’s staying on an estate because he is the POTUS-elect… would you rather he crash at the Oahu Holiday Inn? What kind of message does that send to the world? He’s not spending tax dollars to be there.

And to AFCatfish and those who agree with him, let’s get the full context:

“The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge – I face this challenge with profound humility and knowledge of my own limitations, but I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people.

Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that, generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless. This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. This was the moment when we ended a war, and secured our nation, and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.

    (APPLAUSE)

This was the moment, this was the time when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.”

I guess if he were more like Hillary he would have used more statistics. And then lost the nomination. Oh well.

And it reflects the level of thinking.

Even a Predident should be able to grasp higher concepts, in addition he should exhibit an ability to recognize and solve ever emerging, extremely complex problems.

    Obama doesn’t.

Opening a can of soup doesn’t count, he can’t think, and it shows.

    Maybe you can’t see it.

  • Malcolm

    Oh. Then no, you’re wrong.

I don’t love Obama as much as the noquarterusa crowd hates him, that’s for sure. As I’ve said on here before I voted for Hillary in the primaries. It’s just sad that so much whisper-campaigning and misinformation and Fox News talking point regurgitation is still going on, even after the election. It’s sad that a progressive Democrat is going to be the President and there are still people who think he’s the Antichrist. Who are so obsessed with Ms. Clinton that they are personally offended when someone holds a beer up to the mouth of a cardboard cutout of her.

Of course many people here don’t consider Obama to be a progressive or a Democrat. You’re going to come back at me with Ayers and Rezko and “he’s actually an Al Quaeda sleeper cell” but those are lies that were born on the Internet. People who want to push the Ayers and Rezko angles – the Republicans, during the election – always say “we need to know more about that relationship.” Which is fine, but nothing else has been found out because there is nothing TO find out. If there were something out there it would be out by now. Maybe it’s in Larry Johnson’s safe, next to the Whitey tape.

Democrats should be ecstatic right now. And most of them are; it’s just the chain-email-believing conspiracy theorist ones who are still upset.

  • HC

    …what are you talking about?

    Malcolm

If BO writes the material for his speeches, why is he so reluctant to answer simple questions at his press conferences? If you follow them, it goes like this – he will make a generic statement about changing the world – introduce his cabinet picks – and take a few questions. If he doesn’t like the questions, he cuts off the reporter and refuses to answer or states that his office will have a answer when he’s conveniently out of the country.

I am old enough to remember President Kennedy’s press conferences. He answered every question, had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and knew so much about the world unlike the fake president-elect that we have.

Nothing in the transcript supports your argument. He answers every question, except when the reporter is trying to get him to revisit his primary fight with Hillary Clinton. None of his answers start with platitudes.

Just because Obama does the inspirational rah-rah stuff so well doesn’t mean he’s doing it all the time. Kennedy spoke in the abstract too.

“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.”

Words that would be mocked as empty con-man Manchurian candidate fluff if they’d come from Barack Obama.
