RBO: Rick Warren–Is it fauxrage?

Tis an interesting distraction is it not?
Obama has learned more than we know from George W. Bush. Get people to look Here instead of There. And the loyal troops cooperate so well. It kind of reminds me of the rumor associated with the time when–was it Move On?–they bad mouthed Halliburton so that the stock could go low enough to bring George Soros purchasing joy. Then……silence.

Rick Warren — Is it fauxrage?
December 20, 2008 by Procrustes
A couple days ago RBO asked why Left Blogistan’s gay community is so surprised at PEBO’s choice of anti-gay, anti-choice, pro-assassination Pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his coronation. WaPo’s Joe Solmonese calls it “Obama’s Inaugural Mistake.”
In reality, the stars were all aligned to foretell the future but, apparently, while awaiting the ascension, the O’Faithful, once again, missed the tell-tale signs.
Today you can still find many many blog posts expressing various degrees of outrage. Lest you are of the impression that this brouhaha has quickly blown over as quickly as most, RBO wants to update you on the latest.
Categorized under “Drip. Drip. Drip.” please note that Matt Corley at Think Progress, an arm of the Center for American Progress, which is headed by PEBO supporters, finally reported yesterday — a day after RBO did — that Warren Supports Program That Seeks To Cure Gays Of ‘Same Sex Attraction’.
RBO also wants to point out that the spotlight is being shown exclusively on Warren, which has been called out by some as a planned distraction from Rezko-Blago-Rahmbo Watch, with Warren’s role in the inauguration to eventually be withdrawn as a conciliatory move. Focusing on Warren manages to bypass the Bigger Picture — PEBO’s “fairy tale” campaign. The Big Dog called this one months and months ago. Will Left Blogistan figure it out? Ever?
Doubtful. The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan — a dyed-in-the-wool Obot — has already swung towards apologetics, writing yesterday:
I think Obama is different. I think the earnestness and sincerity of his campaign, and its generational force, have given us a chance for something new, and I fear that in responding too viscerally to the Warren choice, we may be throwing something very valuable away far too prematurely. There is no question that gays and lesbians have made enormous strides in explaining who we are in the last couple of decades. There is equally no question that Obama has substantively committed his administration to more gay inclusion and gay equality than any president in history. We absolutely do need to be vigilant on this. But we should also understand Obama’s attempt to bridge some gaps in America that the Clintons, with their boomer baggage and Dick Morris cynicism, couldn’t and didn’t. This is what matters. Do gays and lesbians want to be a part of this – or sit fuming on the sidelines at symbolic slights?
I know the arguments against this, and if Obama delivers nothing on gay equality, the critics will have every reason to complain loudly, as they should. But I’m not going there yet.
But Pejman Yousefzadeh responds to Sullivan at RedState:
… comes now Andrew Sullivan to offer excuses for Obama and to try to convince his readers–and perhaps himself–that indeed, this really does not matter in the grand scheme of things.
Anything to avoid criticizing The One on a major issue, I suppose. Of course, as I have stated before, Sullivan will eventually turn on Obama, just as he turned on Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
He’s just not ready yet. This is still the “denial” phase.

Is all this fauxrage or will the disenchantment last longer this time than a sippy cup full of Kool Aid? You be the judge.
