Thanks for sharing the story; it is great. I have spent time today listening to a history of New York City. They have been discussing conditions in the l830s.The apprentice system was breaking up and there was unrest and agitation to form labor unions.Inflation was a problem; there wasn't a national currency so paper money was issued by banks. People often wanted specie rather than paper bills. There was rampant real estate speculation and unavailability of credit. The book is "Gotham." Many of those events seemed similar to what is happening now.Some of the major crisises came to a head in 1837. This was a general history but it made me wish for a more detailed financial history of the time. Wishes to everyone for a wonderful holiday. Thanks for sharing the story; it is great. United We Stand Divided We Fall. We all need to be ready to stand for one another as Americans, as the common people who will be the one’s being opressed. After all, think about this, if they are taking the rights of a stranger, they are also taking the rights from all of us. If you saw a FEMA prison train in your town loading folks up, would you try to free them, or turn your back and walk away? I would hope as fellow citizens we would try to free those folks.
