No worries. With everything going I can't even keep my schedule straight. I will be there on the 7th but as time goes on and I think about it the topic might expand beyond the following night's game to college sports in general, the money involved, mens and women's programs and how you can call many of them student athletes when all they do is go to school to play ball. Might even throw a little Title IX in there too. Just a thought. I still have a week and a half to go to the first show and I might change my mind,

Yes, you are a man of your word and delivered exactly on that promise.

Which means I must apologize for my faux pas of assuming your first show had already occured.

I am truly sorry about that. These past couple of weeks have been busy for us with the storms in the northwest. So my head has been dropping info being caught up with traffic, road and weather reports for my husband. He was caught in a winter flood last year.

Anyway, I will try to catch your show. Even brushed up on the rule differences of college vs pro football in honor of it.

Have a Happy New Year!

Had a feeling this would be your first topic on a political board. ;)

This is one subject I agree with Obama. And even better....actually believe he will try to accomplish it. It always bugged me college football didn't have the winners of the bowls compete.

The Raiders and 49ers have sucked for so long. We stop in on various college games just to watch some decent football. There is an intensity there that is missing with a lot of the professional games we've seen recently.

Thanks for the run down on the issues that will delay it. I wasn't aware about the deal with Disney/ESPN to take it off of the regular stations either. We stopped watching 'Monday Night Football' when they moved. Clearly die hard fans will follow, but it has to worry some not to have the local stations carry the bowls.

Hmmm...guess we have been watching more boxing lately.

Always a UT fan here. Lived most of my life around Austin. But I would still feel that UT got screwed big time even if I weren't a fan. I don't think the Tech game should matter since UT beat OU. I think the fact that UT did beat OU, they should have a higher rating.

And I like Colt McCoy much better too.

Ugh! Texas agreed to those tie-breaker rules of the Big XII and has no support for the fans' and coach's whining about it now. These kids have enough games to play as it is -- a playoff system would just be ridiculous. Every year somebody is unhappy and there is much whining and moaning -- we should just leave it alone, and Barack Obama should shut up about things he doesn't know anything about and has no jurisdiction regarding anyway. I hope Oklahoma beats the crap out of the other team so everybody shuts up -- until next year when we'll go through it all over again!

Texas got boned. They handled OU head to head in the Red River Shootout. I agree that losing to TTU when they did hurt their chances, but due to the convoluted Big 12 tie breaker, OU got into Big 12 championship game. OU did hang 60+ on their last 4 opponents, but they still shouldn't be in the BCS Championship game. Florida played their way into the game by defeating the 1# Alabama Crimson Tide, a much bigger feat than OU's trouncing of the Missouri Tigers. I expect Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin to lead Florida to another BCS title. The last few season have ended with so much controversy, that the only thing that can solve it is some sort of playoff. It can work. If Division 1 AA, 2 and 3 can play for a championship, why can't Division 1?
Incorporate the bowl games and give the #1 team the lowest seed. The major conference Champions of the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, SEC and PAC 10 get seeds according to national ranking. The Big East gets left out of the mix due to the weakness of the conference. The 5 highest ranking teams regardless of conference affiliation fill those slots. The December bowls are the first round, the January bowls are the deciding ones. I think it will work and that's what most fans want. As usual, Obama has his finger on the pulse of the people. He knows what we want and need. That's why he'll be hard to beat come 2012.

GO GATORS!!!

...my Mother actually has the talking stuffed Aligator... OY.

I feel fortunate to have 2 great teems behind me. I was born in Pittsburgh..... and grew up in Miami. I feel so fortunate to have grown up in the era of Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Don Shula and the gang. We actually used to go to the auditorium to watch videos of the Dolphins playing in Jr. High.

Good times.

Jay, I think right now the regular NQ combatants are standing around slightly dazed with bloody battle-axes from the marathon "Did You Get Invited" brouhaha. Football? We need to focus. Okay, Go Boise State. The bowl game they played a couple years back with Oklahoma was the greatest college football game I've ever seen. Uh-Oh, I see they've already lost to TCU tonight 17-16 in the Poinsettia Bowl. All of the election combat has taken my mind off of football this year.
