A New Year’s Toast to Our Readers

web3nqgroup2009_edited-2
We at No Quarter would like to wish our readers a year filled with laughter, joy, and good health even though we face serious domestic and global challenges in the coming year. We will do our best to cover them honestly and rapidly. We will always tell it like it is, including the good news.

Our collective resolution for the coming year is to continue in the practice of No Quarter, to delve deeper into current issues and to go beyond what the mainstream media reports and to expose what they choose to ignore. In short, we will strive to live up to the No Quarter name.

No Quarter. What does that mean?

It is a military saying from, “Give the enemy no quarter.” Or, stated another way, “Take no prisoners.”

We watch for those stories that expose “the enemy,” be they those that threaten us from beyond our shores or those that violate of the public trust or offend human dignity here at home. We will be paying extra attention to foreign policy this year.

If it’s broken, we will scream that it needs fixing. Sometimes we just like to tell a story that needs telling, or bring a smile in tough times, or offer a fresh perspective to issues we care about. We want to give our readers something to think about, and we love the open and honest debates that happen in the comment sections (and sometimes even among ourselves).

So, off we go into 2009! We offer a toast to you, our readers! Try to find some joy in every day. And please continue to share your ideas with us here at No Quarter.
We wish you a heartfelt thank you for your continued and dedicated support this past year.

Heartfelt thanks for your great cartoons and articles.
You have helped to make this cruel world a better place.

  • Stan Davis

    And good riddance to 2008!!

    Thanks, Pat.

What a great cartoon. It looks like it took a great deal of time and effort to create. Even though I do not know these people I feel that when I look at the cartoon, that somehow I know them and would like them if I met them in person.

I wish everyone at No Quarter a wonderful New Year and an even more successful 2009

To all at NQ, many thanks for your supreme contribution to the fight against all that is wrong with America.

Your standard of excellence reigns supreme–wishing you all the healthy, safe, successful New Year, and again, many thanks for being here!

Isn’t PatRacimora a gifted artist? It DID take her a great deal of time and effort. We are all so touched that she did this for us.

We love you, Pat. Thank you for all you do for all of us.

By the way, Pat also creates some of the art work that goes with our NQ Radio shows. She is creating the art for our new show that starts on January 7th: NO TOPIC TABOO: Everything Else with Jay. Sounds like fun, eh? (Jay is Nocturnal Warrior’s good, longtime friend.)

  • haypops

Happy New Year! no more Bush!

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Thanks NQ. As a refugee from HuffPo, Salon, and the others, you were champagne to this thirsty Democrat (now Independent). Looking forward to many more insightful posts with intelligent, and hilarious bloggers. You’ve often made my day.

    Dear All at No Q—
If the New Year is happy at all, it will be, in part, because of No Quarter!
    Thanks and Good Wishes!

  • Clara Barton

Pat, what a wonderful portrayal of the talented and thoughtful writers at No Quarter! Can you offer names to go with the “faces”?

To everyone at NQ and those who post their comments here, I wish you all a better new year to come; one filled with media honesty and objectivity, discovering truths and exposing the underbellies that exist, and best wishes to Hillary to calm down the inflammed spots around the world and prevent further deterioration.

This site and the way it is run was really an oasis in the midst of a disaster during the campaign. I have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated being a daily visitor. Thanks to Larry and Susan, and all those who write or draw great pieces.

  • Ani

Wishing a very Happy New Year and better times ahead for all of us.

All my thanks to our NoQ readers for all your continued support and wonderful input this year.

And my deepest appreciation to Larry, Susan and my fellow NoQ writers for their amazing contributions and hard work.

    Fabulous cartoon, Pat!! :)

  • Denise

Yes, Tricia (as I know her) is a gifted artist and has always fought and worked for what she believes in. The world would be a better place if there were more people like her in it.

  • Lynn E

Happy New Year and everyone has been great. I love No Quarter! Lynn

  • ritamary

Happy New Year to everyone at No Quarter. We may not have gotten what we wanted in 2008, but we learned a lot and even had some fun here. Let’s hope we will do the same in 2009.

  • TeakwoodKite

Thank you NQ for the forum.

I look forward to the new year with NQ.

Pat Is that New Hampster or Bear in the bottom right? I love your art work!

Patsy want to commision you to do some ladybugs for her. :)

Bests wishes and No Quarter to all.

  • JustSaying

Thank you Pat….I love the cartoon…in fact, I have loved all your cartoons throughout this crazy year. In some of the darkest days, your cartoons made me laugh out loud…

To NQ, thanks for this place of refugee, I found this place by chance and once I did, it became a safe haven away from all those crazies we met throughout the year. Wishing you all here at NQ – a very happy, healthy New Year. Nancy

  • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Amen, Sister Susan – Pat is incredibly gifted, as well as warm, generous, and funny. Yes, we love her, indeed!

And love SUSAN, too, who is so generous with her time, talent, and love – she is a gem.

Larry has opened up his blog to us, given us the honor of writing for him, and working with him. It is an honor – he is one helluva man, and I am proud to know him!

My fellow writers here are truly amazing people – I am constantly awed by their prodigious talents and insights. Along with the great readers here, I, too, look forward to their posts in the coming year.

And to the readers – what smart, informed, witty people you are! And dedicated, for which I am grateful. Thank you.

Happy New Year to you all, readers and writers alike!

  • LD

Thank you all for welcoming me into the club.

Happy New Year to all !!!

  • Mandelay

Cheers, Pat, to you and your amazing talents. Happy New Year to all the writers and readers at this terrific place!

  • Peggy Sue

Thank you, Pat, for the appealing cartoons and accompanying text. Thank you, NQ for a home to the weary and worn out, those of us made half-insane by the MSM’s endless drivel.

I check this site nearly every day and particularly after “an event” of national or international consequence. I always leave with a new sense of perspective, even with essays I may not totally agree with. You’re doing a public service for those who care to read and think and even comment.

Happy New Year to all. I suspect we’re in for a rollercoaster ride in 2009!

  • Don X

Thanks, Pat, for a year of terrific cartoons and commentary highlighting important issues in today’s topsy-turvy world. I appreciate your talent and hard work.

And thanks to the NoQuarter writers for digging beneath the surface of those issues bypassed or given short shrift by the media. You bring a different perspective to what is going on in the world. Keep up the good work.

Wishing you all the best in 2009

  • fif

Happy New Year to all, & many thanks to Larry, Susan, Ani, Pat, Uppity and the many great posters here at NoQ. We appreciate your tireless efforts to bring real information and analysis to a mainstream media averse audience.

Let’s hope for a safe, prosperous and just 2009.

  • alibe

Happy New Year! This site has made this bizzaro year somewhat palatable. If anyone would have told me that I was going to vote for a Republican for President, I would have said they were insane. I would have bet my house that that would never happen. Yet I voted for McCain and do not regret it. I Spent everything I could for Hillary. Money, time, energy and hope. And then I knew. I had to vote against 0bama. It will be bad news for this country and this world. Restraint and corrupt media and out of control greed have put us in a place that will be hard to have a Happy New Year. But here is hoping. We have nothing left but hope. Talk about a sad state of affairs.
I hope I am wrong about 0bama. I hope I win the lottery. Each is against all odds.

  • Newly Independent

Merry New Year to everyone here at NoQuarter!!!

Thank you dearly for getting me through this extremely difficult political year!

And let’s strap on our seatbelts for 2009. Here’s hoping that 2009′s going to be better!!

  • Linda Mac

Thank you to you, Pat, for your splendid cartoons this past year that have so often expressed my own feelings so precisely. AND thank you to NQ and the whole team who were able to see through the BO cloud that has descended on the Democratic Party. I pray that the country survives this president and his Chicago affiliations. I will try too stay hopeful and will pray for Hillary’s health and stamina to put up with having a far inferior candidate win with his smoke and mirror campaign.

  • imustprotest

Okay, I think I know which one is Larry, (the one with the martini glass raising the toast?) but who are the others??? Which is SusanUPC? Ani? Sara in Italy? Pat? Is Uppity Woman in the group?

  • http://ksclematis ksclematis

Pat, you are gifted in so many ways, and I want to thank you for bringing me to NQ!! I remember Larry from ‘way back’!! And I’ve known you for quite a while, and know we have a lot of common thoughts. When I come here for realistic insight and truthful discussions, I can stay for hours! Your cartoons are unique, and I’m so glad you found a great outlet for your talent. All the personnel here are unique in their talents and I want to thank all of you for successful futures here at NQ. I’m sure there will not be a lack of discussion topics in 2009!!! I’ll be here, too. MP

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO LARRY, PAT AND ENTIRE STAFF!!

  • oowawa

    Per The Grateful Dead:

    Lately it occurs to me
    What a long strange trip it’s been . . .

May this time next year find us all still alive and belligerent. Happy New Year to all NQ writers and readers. I am very grateful for this forum!

  • mimi

Happy New Year to all here at NQ!

I am glad to see 2008 go. A year ago I had every intention of not getting involved in the Primary. My intention was to support the Democratic nominee no matter who it was.

Well… then the shit hit the fan.

And the world turned upside down faster than a a Flashdance.

A year later, I am a voter without a Party, I read no newspapers or watch tv news. This was the year that I parted paths with my community, the AA community. I stand alone. Well, my sister at least stands with me. We stand alone.

I await the Inauguration so 0bama can stop hiding behind the “I am only the POTUS-elect” bullshit.

I’ve never been so scared in my life.

    And we will see.

I still hope for the best.

  • HARP

Happy New Year to all at NQ!

  • SantaFeK

The very best to all of you at No Quarter–you surely have been there for me and my “list.” Pat’s cartoon is superb.

Last year at this time I was apprehensive of the election to come, had detemined I’d have nothing to do with the arrogant poseur in November ’07. I never waivered on that?–oh yes I did–”arrogant poseur” turned out to be the most favorable view I have had of The One.

Like others, I barely watch the MSM. Thank you for the great articles. This year was a life-direction-changer for me politically. I remain positive and optimistic, despite what is going on. 2009 is going to be very interesting.

  • beachnan

Happy New Year to No Quarter’s staff and fellow bloggers. We are on a journey like no other. It is comforting to have such wonderful fellow travelers. We seek truth. May we meet again at the same time, and same place next year and know that what we are attempting to do, is making a difference. We all want what is best for America, for each of her citizens, and for the rest of the world. Thank you everyone for your sanity, companionship, and wisdom. Blessings to all for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2009.

  • rolling_thunder

\I love it, love it love it. I could swear that redhead on the lower right is me but I have green eyes. Who’s the rat?
It’s been an honor to be able to post here at NQ. If not for NQ many of us would have cracked up. My best wishes for all the bright stars here. May you continue to shine, love live and prosper.
My gratitude is heartfelt to all you bright posters and writers. It’s been a long hard fight.
    Happy 2009
Hillary & Bill are pushing the button to drop the ball.
    Happy New Year!

  • Pat Racimora

Thanks Clara and everyone for saying such nice things about my work. Much appreciated. I love doing it.

We decided to just keep everyone guessing–well, except the little fella on the far right couldn’t hide his identity. That would, of course, be New Hampster.

  • WildChild

I’d like to send a big thank you out to mother earth for putting up with our antics for yet another revolution. Between your blue skys, rolling oceans, cool breezes, warm rain, passing seasons and clear stary nights, you alway take my breath away with the next bit of wonder you have prepared for us, no matter how much darkness we might stretch across this fine land of yours.

  • ladynite54

Happy New Year to one and all!!!!!!

I haven’t posted in a while, but I am on here every day to see what is new with the world and with the Messiah Barack Obama and his Merry Men.

May the New Year bring out all the dirt that the Media is trying to hide about Obama.

Everyone be safe and have a Prosperous New Year. Remember Don’t Drink and Drive.

  • Kat5

Okay, y’all, let’s raise our glasses high in a toast to sanity, a rarified commodity guarded by dead enders here at NQ and at better blogs everywhere. Thanks to everyone for being out there.

  • clairtx

Happy New Year to all here at No Quarter, and especially to you, Pat. This website has helped me keep my sanity in the face of the most awful Presidential campaign I have ever lived through.

We are ahead for some rough times in this country, and do not have the leader we need. I only hope that the President will heed the concerns of the people who did not vote for him, and listen to the advice of his Secretary of State.

Wishing all of you health and happiness in the coming year.

  • I’m a Linda too

    Sounds good to me!
    Great toon.

Thank you NQ gang and may you all have a SUPER New Year. Despite the odds against us, we’ve shown to be a strong force!

    Now, my New Year cheer.

Here’s to you and here’s to me,
    May we never disagree.
If we do, f@ck you, here’s to me! :)

    …just kidding

Here’s me lifting a glass of cheer with you all.

Ha! Great cartoon graphic!! Thanks for a wild year Larry. I hope that the country recovers economically and that somehow Obambi’s favorability numbers go through a slow decline due to mistakes and missteps. With the Democrats in charge its only a matter of time before they do each other in with their fratricide ways. Maybe Sec of State is a good place for Hillary after all. She can stay clear of the rotten bunch surrounding Obambi and do a good job of repairing W’s foreign policy.

  • Liberty Belle not for Obama

Happy New Year, and great thanks to Larry and all the writers here at No Quarter. You’ve helped keep us sane through the crazy Election Year 2008, and I appreciate all of you fine work.

FYI – Just read over at the Confluence that both Hillary and Bill Clinton will be doing the 60 second countdown at Times Square. Fox is doing Times Square, so perhaps they’ll cover them (don’t count on NBC).

    Blessings to all.

  • NCgirl

Wonderful cartoon Pat! I especially love the little hampster for our friend NewHampster. To Larry, Susan and everyone at NoQuarter, I wish you good health and good fortune in the coming year. This blog has been a Godsend for me. I could come here, read great articles and comment without fear being censored or shut-out, as so many of the other blogs have done to many of us. I found like-minded and informed people here. Happy New Year to one and all!!!

  • socalannie

Pat, the cartoon is amazing! I’ve been trying to guess who is who. A perfect depiction of the spirit and diversity of NoQuarter!

    Happy New Year everyone!

  • karen for Clinton (told you so)

Thanks for this site – for all the work and research and thinking displayed here. For often making the best of awful situations and rising above them. For voicing opinions that were against the tide of the overwhelming onslaught of the MSM obots but nevertheless were the voice of truth and of fury.

    Love the New Hampster Pat.

Good going guys and gals. Happy Healthy ’09.

    Peace. Cheers.

Happy New Year One and All!

Thank goodness for No Quarter for providing a forum for citizens that care about Democracy and open and free elections. Despite the onslaught of media cultists pushing “you know who” 57 million Americans could see through the fantasy and lies.

2008 saw the end of the most corrupt party of Government ever, defended by some of the most right wing bigots who shamed America ever. 2008 saw their fronts fail. Swiftboating failed. May those front have as much success in 2009 as they had in 2008 and may hard working America and the World gain from peace and prosperity.

Thank you to everyone that posts and comments on this blog and make it a virtual life-line to sanity. Participating here has been an incredible learning experience for me. I found myself listening to people I may have previously tuned out, reading posts and articles I would not have been exposed to before (I love the links), and considering opinions and arguments I might have discounted in the past. If nothing else, this past year has been an awakening (and sometimes I hope I will wake up from the nightmare), but I won’t ever allow myself (or anyone in my immediate family) to be ignorant to what is really going on in the world again thanks to this blog.

Happy, healthy new year to all!

p.s. Does anyone know where Galt has been? I miss him/her.

Happy New Year, NQ writers and readers. May you all be blessed with health, wealth, prosperity and happiness. NQ is like home to many of us.

  • CB

    Hi Pat,

I met you at the fundraiser “garden party” in which Hillary stated that she wanted to have a vote at the convention. At that time I thought there was still a possibility, however slight; and I absolutely thought that the Democratic Convention would be fair. As it stands, all three of my delegates who were pledged to vote for Hillary voted for BO on the first ballot, contrary to California law. My donation of money and time was for naught. I am now a “Decline to State” voter.

I have never had any confidence in Obama, nor have I seen any leadership ability, other than hiring others to do his work. I am not hopeful that he is going to somehow transform into Lincoln/Roosevelt. On the plus side, I can’t be disappointed.

Thanks for your cartoons, and thanks for No Quarter!

  • socalannie

Thats encouraging. Happy New Year to you too Mossy!

    Susan,

Thank you for the plug for my upcoming show next week. I am both excited and nervous at the same time. The thought of filling an hour of air time each week can be daunting and I am slowly working on the topics for upcoming shows.

Pat thank you for all of the great work you are doing for my new logo and for this great cartoon even sneaking me in at the last minute.

Though I am new here as far as posting & on “the air” for NQ I am glad to be part of this “family” and look forward to 2009.

It has been SUCH a year. I would not have made it through without all of you.

I learned so much this past year, and had my eyes opened quite a few times, from the stories here, and the comments from our readers. Such a smart group of people!

Thank you to Larry and Susan and the NQ writers, for welcoming me to the community. And thanks to all of you, the readers for your valued input, and positive (and ok, even the negative) feedback! :O)

Like Judy L in NC, I was asleep at 9 — under the influence of a hectic month of losing my mother, moving and the flu but awoke mysteriously at midnight to kick 2008 to the curb. I have resolved only one thing: To ask questions until I am satisfied with the answers. For that I give some credit to barky. Still don’t have those pesky answer thingys, but the questioning continues.

For each and every one of you — trolls too — I wish a measure of peace, a content of riches and a modicum of humility. God knows we need to keep our wits about us. Everyone knows the “bumpy night” quote from that mistress of understatement Miss Bette Davis, but I am going to share my two favorites:

    1. “I’d love to kiss you but I just washed my hair.”

    2. “No one has any rights about me except me.” If any of you has the personal email for either SoS Clinton or Gov Palin, please send this one on. I think they are going to find that 2009 is going to be a bumpy night indeed.

    Love to all NQers!

Dear Pat, thanks for your great cartoons and essays.
A picture (cartoon) is worth a 1000 words, and you are right on target with your essays.

The best thing about 2009 is that the W. administration is OVER, DONE, GONE. However, the Repubs will not lay down and die, they will unite and block efforts to cure our ills, they will continue their agenda, but from a different angle.
And the “Blue Dog Democrats” will have lots of power.

We all have to work hard to have the Obama Administration follow through on their promises.
The bad thing is that they want to EXPAND the military in Afganistan. How tragic. And to what end? What’s the GOAL?

Larry, keep up the spotlight on this. There is no “winning” there, only more destruction and lives lost. I thank all of you who write for NoQuater, and for the population that comments. I visit the site two or three times a day to see what’s new.
Thank again, and thank you Pat for your artwork and commentary. I wish the world a Happy New Year, and I hope we can achieve some peace in our world.

Great work, Pat. It was a bright start to my 2009 to wake up and see it!

The very best for a “fine in oh nine” to NQ’ers.

I thought it was “. . .bumpy flight.”

But, Uppity, you ARE in the picture! At least how I see you.

  • Pat Racimora

LOL–The “rat” would be New Hampster.

  • Arabella Trefoil

2008 was one of the shittiest years ever.

    Good. Bye.

  • Pat Racimora

Hi CB! I remember that party so well (including the guy who fell into the pool). I hope you are well. I continue to share your agony about how this election played out. It keeps my small talent on the lookout for what to draw next.

  • DAB

The past year has been a “trip” that I would like to forget and it was comforting to know that there are many others “out there” who see things the way that I do.

I very much appreciate all of the writers and commenters on this site and approve of it’s evolving direction. Even when the subject is not directed at political or national issues, I find a lot in common with so many of you. (Guess great minds all think alike…)

Hope that the New Year is good to everyone!

I love this site too – its as if Larry and Susan are head of the Jedis from Star Wars.

Happy New Year, NQ! I may give you guys a hard time, but it’s done with the best intentions. Again, Happy New Year!

  • Sassy

Thanks to all the talented people here at NQ!
I wish each of you a prosperous New Year!
We are certain to face adversity, it is the normal diet of life, but our ability to share this space really helps!
I have gained insight here, laughed, seethed, and cried.
This year took me in a new direction politically, and in spite of another loss, I am grateful!

  • imustprotest

    Ah ha!!

  • Steve_in_KC

Damn, I’m late to the party, as usual!

Happy New Year to all my NQ friends!

I look forward to holding Obama’s feet to the fire, but more than anything, I look forward to watching Secretary of State Hillary Clinton start healing the wounds opened by the Dub and the Neocons.

Hey Arabella, how ya been girl?

  • http://uppitywoman08.wordpress.com Uppity Woman

    You’re the best, sister.

  • GBS

Great year of cartoons! Keep up the good work in 2009.

  • Lizzy

Hate was not defeated in 2008; it is riding higher than ever. If you thought corruption was bad in the past brace yourself for much worse to come. You won nothing in 2008-everything was a loss.

  • http://uppitywoman08.wordpress.com Uppity Woman

OH LOL. Now even I don’t know who I am. Hahahaha.

  • Lizzy

Great cartoon Pat. I have found so much important information here. Thanks to all the writers and commenters. I wish everyone the best in the coming year.

  • Margaret

    I second that!

  • randye sandel

Yes, as an artist myself, I am quite impressed with Ms. Racimora’s cartoons. Very original work.

Happy New Year to all at NQ. May your insightful brilliance continue to produce the fine journalism so consistently found here at this site. Keep up the great work!

  • mary

    HAPPY NEW YEAR to NO-QUARTER!

Thanks for ignoring the media dogs’ barking, the right-wing nuts’ and left-loonies’ torches lit in the forest, the whistles of the Obamabots….
for FIGHTING MISOGYNY, RACISM AND HOMOPHOBIA fairly and with honor…and facts…

A toast so that we will no longer be forced to go down the End of the Obama Bus of Sexism!..

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES….YOU’RE THE BEST!

  • mary

Unfortunately, Barry is a War Monger like the Old Shoe Dubya! Just financed by different interests. George Soros wants Barry to start War in Afganistan

to prevent Russian oil pipelines going through! Barry, if Philip Berg’s Jan. 9/19 Supreme Court conferences are not successful to disqualify him as president, will spend billions more than Dubya to wage unnecessary war and play fire with two nuclear powerhouses, Pakistan and India.

But forgive me, I forgot His foreign credentials–a backpacking college students’ trip to Pakistan with his Indian “well-hung” (as he said in his Book!) roommate/boyfriend….
May Zeus and Hillary Diane help us out of this mess…

  • mary

Thank you! I, too, am a refugee from Huffington from which I was banned probably for being too Hillary-oriented…No-Quarter offers asylum from the storm..

  • mary

    Pat Racimore

PLEASE may we have some MOOOOOOOOOOOre cartoons on the loony leftists and the rigid right-wingers….

  • mary

    Lizzy

Have Hope for Change will come soon–and not from the one who’s patented the two.
Come January 19th, Obama will be “unqualified to be President” and Philip Berg’s lawsuit will remove Barry and a constitutional mess will ensure as result.
Hate is not the problem. But not Acting against it by exposing it, is! Being negative won’t change anything. Visiting No Quarter gives us power and expressing our views will help eliminate the Hate against women everywhere.

  • JTomorrow

    Dear Pat,

Thanks for all the engaging cartoons and articles. You are brightening up the day!

  • ATodd

This site does not even continue to give credibility to the mad “birthers”. You have 9/11 truther Berg. Techdude a neo nazi from Stormfront and Anti-semite Andy Martin.

What a great bunch of people to “pal around with”.

Yje birth certificate – on factcheck, with seal. What excuse will you come up with now?

Well said, and my sentiments exactly! Through some very difficult and isolating times, all of you have brought me to a place of reflection and offered me solace (even when the information was/is unsettling).

As my closest friends gather for their inauguration festivities, I will take comfort in what I have gathered from your readers, writers and friends, and press on!

    With much gratitude,
    Kailyne

  • Thinker

    Thank you NoQuarter.

Love the site, it’s a safehaven from all of the bots on the net.

    :)

  • Pat Racimora

Thank you Randye Sandel. I am a HUGE fan of your amazing work, so this is an exciting compliment indeed!

  • Steve

Who is Pat Racimora? How did NO QUARTER land such a classy cartoon artist? Listen Pat, no offense to NO QUARTER, but get your best togather and look up the NEW YORKER. If you need an agent, drop me a line.

    Regards

  • Laura Moreno

    To all at No Quarter,

    I wish you all a wonderful 2009!!
