Susan Update

Just spoke with Susan: The hospital is training her for the marathon. They’ll be working her out several times a day for the next week at least, until she can outrun the nurses.

Several raccoons were scheduled to be delivered, but they never arrived. If anyone sees any MIA raccoons, would they please let me know asap.

Meanwhile, Susan’s worried she may turn into a turkey. Because that’s all the hospital seems to feed her. So she has fresh fruit and cheeses stashed in a refrigerator nearby.

Overall, Susan is in very good spirits and she says hello to everyone.

    Leslie..

How is Susan feeling..did she have both hips done..?? Does she need knee surgery too..?? Does she notice a difference in her pain and her ability to walk better since surgery..?

Susan is a real TROOPER..Strong willed and a fighter..she will do her Best I know..I keep thinking how much Susan spoke out she fought for all Our Disabled Troops who have Lost Limbs and had to come home for similar and/or more extensive therapy..and how hard she fought for getting them the best quality of care and benefits they deserved..

I am glad to see that Susan has been getting the same kind of Help from many of you..and doctors..and that other people are just as Concerned about Her quality of Life as SHE has been for so many others..

Perhaps Susan can realate even better to what they are going through now..and from what I have seen on Documentarys..they are all very Courageous and determined to get better and move on with thier Lifes..

    So..Get better susan..heal fast..Work hard..Time to MOVE ON..

    Best..

You say the hospital is cramming her with turkey–does that mean she’s eating Bush & Cheney? Just when you think hospitals can’t get any worse . . . . I’ll bet Cheney is tough and stringy and tastes “gamey” too.

If she gets sick of turkey, my offer still stands. I can bring her some fabulous food from Pike Place Market, or my favorite Thai place, or wherever…

It’s great to hear she is recovering so well!

    Patrick Henry,
Susan had both her hips replaced. She doesn’t know yet if her knees will require surgery too. [For those who didn't know: She's had pain in both her hips and her knees.]

I asked her if the pain was different, new pain, or same old pain? She only said that it was different. But she’s still healing. It may be difficult for her to tell right now. I don’t know what kind of medications she’s on either–if she’s on any pain medications?

Everytime, Susan and I talk, however, the nurses, or physical therapists interrupt her. We only get to talk for a few minutes. They’ve been keeping her very busy. And she sounded in very good spirits, really happy to hear from people.

    Oooo Shoephone,
Send it special delivery! Bet she’d love it.

    Montag,
Susan would never be able to keep them down. Plus, the Cheney would probably be full of drunken buckshot.

Leslie – You’ll have to email me with the info on which wing, room number, etc.

Thai dishes don’t include turkey — that much I know!
