Who Does Harry Reid Think He Is? George Wallace

Last Democrat I remember standing in a door and blocking a black man from going somewhere he is legally entitled to be was George Wallace. For you aspiring film makers out there here is a challenge–we need a piece the includes the clip from Forrest Gump where George Wallace tries to stop the black students from entering the University of Alabama. As Uppity Worman correcty noted earlier today, the Senate is setting itself up for some incredibly stupid politics come Monday. Like it or not Mr. Burris is fully qualified to serve out Barack Obama’s term and Governor Rod Blagojevich retains the legal right to appoint him.

So what do you think?

Is Harry Reid acting like Forrest Gump (stupid is as stupid does) or is he George Wallace blocking the black man from a government owned building? This would be funny as hell if this were on HBO, but as reality TV it is a stain on the Democrats and a sad reminder of what a weak sister Barack Obama is.

Love the music but despise the man.

  • NCgirl

Is Harry Reid like Forest Gump or George Wallace…I say he is a combination of both. He is both stupid and malicious. Reid plans to block entrance to the Senate floor to Burris if he shows opening day. Reid is an embarrassment to the Dems.

    • RebelCarol

Yeah and Dingy Harry also wants to seat Franken even though it may be weeks before a Minn. Senator is deemed the winner and is certified.

This whole Senate thing is getting very interesting and should be televised on Comedy Central.

The MSM(CNN and MSNBC in particluar) keep harping on Blago playing ‘racial politics’(also on NPR and PBS). Every time I hear this I want to scream, are they serious? Did they not have Carville, Brazile, the former Governor Wilder, Roland Martin, etc saying over and over again during BO’s campaign that if Michigan and Florida were seated there would be ‘chaos’ and riots like the Rodney King mayhem. Wasn’t the race card used again and again accusing delegates of being Uncle Toms and traitors if they didn’t support BO?

  • http://cinie.wordpress.com Cinie

I said last week that Reid’s first line in the sand declaration amounted to ineffective saber rattling. No matter how hard it is to admit you’ve been punked, the Dems need to suck it up, or at least, find somebody smart to tell them what to do. Bobby Rush can scream racism all day long, it’s what he does, what he’s always done. Having a black president and a black Illinois Secretary of State stand in opposition of Burris doesn’t mitigate the racial implications, it intensifies them.
Can you say, “doing white folks bidding?”
Both sides of this debate can.
The Democrats can’t afford to bet that the black voting and Congressional base that’s largely staying out of it at the moment, will automatically take their side.

Did Barack Obama Just Appoint An Underqualified Stooge and Privatizer Secretary of Education?

Arne Duncan is a good guy, beholden to the Daley team, but he has zero experience as an educator. So you have a “theorist” expounding upon what teachers should do in the classroom. He has been a compassionate leader, but again, without any background in education. His main qualification for Barack’s cabinet is that he plays basketball. Watch for Marty Nesbitt and underachiever IDPH former director (basically a hack who took the credit for programs developed before he came here)Eric Whitaker to round out the team.

And how much did BO know when he was placed in Charge of the Annenburg Challenge (thanks to Ayrer).

Barry is a product of an exclusive college Prep education in Hawaii (except for his early school years in Indonesia — which certainly ISN’T an American School system).

Barry has no real idea what teachers must do — it’s a job that he would not last at — perhaps he might have made it through ONE day of teaching before looking for another “challenge”.

These jerks who know nothing and have no experience — like GWB and his — leave no child behind” garbage — testing for the sake of testing — kids have had to endure being taught to take tests.

These taught to take the test kids are the stupid jerks who have fallen for the ONE — apparently thanks to the “new” educational system today’s kids just don’t know how to use critical thinking ability. THIS is a skill than can be taught — but how in the world is there time to TEACH kids how to use common sense and logical reasoning.

I’m no fan of teaching to the test. And from the responses of the Obama bots — seems like almost a whole generation has been prepared to be Cult followers of someone just like Obama. What this planned — or did team Obama take advantage of the crap already in the system.

AS FOR HARRY REID — he is so typical of a broken (dead) Democratic Party. He has been largely ineffectual and a wimp. He has very little leadership ability.

Amazing — a white Mormon seemingly taking orders from a guy who looks sort of black (Obama) to keep another black guy out of the Senate — why? Perhaps not everyone will be marching lock step with the ONE??

I’m so glad I’m not a Democrat — but hey they are still good for entertainment — because no one is allowed to make fun of Obama — Comedians are scared of the ONE (who has NO sense of humor).

WarrenAndObamaby BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

Some folks like to call him “No-Drama Obama,” but it appears that the president-elect doesn’t care how much drama he stirs up – on his Left. Obama and his handlers should have known that bestowing the invocation honors to “evangelical preacher/businessman” Rick Warren was sure to cause drama among gays, as well as pro-choice advocates. But, “like Bush, Obama believes that he is the decider. The Warren invitation is yet another instance of the patronizing Obama telling the left that they shouldn’t worry their pretty little heads about anything that he decides is inconsequential.”

Freedom Rider: Rick Warren and Barack Obama

by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

“Obama’s increasingly rightward shift became more obvious every day.”

The overly hyped and endlessly sensationalized inauguration of Barack Obama will soon be upon us. From Election Day onward, Obama’s increasingly rightward shift became more obvious every day. The presence of a Bush holdover at the Department of Defense, a chief of staff dedicated to crushing progressives in Congress, and economic advisers who deregulated the world financial system into ruin prove that joy is unwarranted.

Still it was surprising when the transition team announced that Rev. Rick Warren was invited to give the inaugural invocation. Warren exemplifies the modern evangelical preacher/businessman, pastoring a “mega” church while also writing best selling books and influencing politicians and policies. Warren’s most recent public action was to provide very vigorous support for Proposition 8, the California initiative which banned gay marriage.

Gay activists who supported Obama were quite rightly outraged by the Warren choice. The Obama camp responded with characteristic annoyance at the unwashed masses who won’t get with the program and just shut up. They defended the decision by pointing out that a gay marching band would appear in the inaugural parade. The marching band honor was actually supposed to lessen the sting of the Warren slap in the face.

Truth is much stranger than fiction…..

Reid made his vow to block anyone Blago appointed back when no one knew exactly who it was going to be based on his version of principle….(now please get up off the floor and wipe the tears of laugher from your eyes)

If he doesn’t keep to his word just because the man is black, doesn’t that make him racist? I say ‘no’ to George Wallace.

Forrest Gump had a low IQ but a good heart. Reid is 50% Forrest Gump!

    • Evolve and Learn

Gov Rod still is the gov and still has the sole power to fill the senate seat. The state senators BLEW IT. If they wanted the Gov hand out of the selection they should have held a Run off election. Bull crap on the “too expensive” crap. They were afraid the people would elect a republican they gambled and lost. Burris should be seated like any other senator PERIOD.

If the state senate was afraid to have run off election and they did not want the gov to appoint, were they thinking that the people of Ill should not have two senators representing them? Surely, they did not think that the gov would be removed from office in a mere few weeks. Blag is going for broke-petal to the metal.

      Evolve and Learn DEMOCRATS….

      • Sonic Ninja Kitty

Yes, um, but what do you think of Reid? Is he embarrassing himself with stupidity or racism?

  • ritamary

The Dems will step in deep doo doo if they try to bar the Senate door to Burris. Obama really opened a huge can of worms with his race-baiting during the primaries.

  • TexasMirth

Like it or not Mr. Burris is fully qualified to serve out Barack Obama’s term and Governor Rod Blagojevich retains the legal right to appoint him.

That’s the issue. We are a land ruled by law. Legally, Blagojevich is still the governor and has the authority to appoint Burris. As far as Harry Reid being like either George Wallace or Forrest Gump…neither seems like an appropriate comparison. How about Barney Fife, Mayberry’s deputy who was so full of himself, frequently issuing orders and blathering on and on when he should have just shut up?

  • http://http//www.anvp.wordpress.com soldier4hillary

The Dems are playing a dangerous game and they think the PEBO is there *security blanket* in this. That since he gave a statement on his position that it will all go away. They are in for a very rude awakening. What I don’t understand is how they can find issue with appointing Burris based on who appointed him being *accused* of a crime. But no one has any complaints about the fact Blago pardoned 22 people. So does that mean those pardons are no good? Or does it just apply to this.

What about being innocent till proven guilty? So now, you can lose your job and everything else based on a accusation without even being tried in a court of law? The Dems are scaring me shitless.

These next four years are going to be hell. I wish I would of put in for a assignment overseas for four years after 7 june when Senator Clinton suspended her campaign. Watching them throw everything aside like its no better that toilet paper just don’t sit very well with me. I know people want to be optimistic but how do you explain this?

Why is Blago guilty for selling a senate seat but the person on the other side of the phone line is innocent. So there was intent? A possible sale? So that means the other person on the phone is just as guilty. I need to find out what’s open it is getting way to crazy and the new administration is not even sworn in.

    • baby_puppy

Brilliant soldier. This is unbelievable, and that’s sayin’ something.

    • TeakwoodKite

What about being innocent till proven guilty? So now, you can lose your job and everything else based on a accusation without even being tried in a court of law?

Ask the former Gov of New York, LOL.

The two states that must a appoint a Senator have something in common…

What are the odds? Better ask Reid of Nevada what the spread is.

  • Sammie

I would have a totally different outlook on the appointment if there was any evidence that Burris had been involved in some type of pay off to obtain the seat. As it stands now, he appears to be qualified, and the Governor hasn’t actually been found guilty of anything yet. It seems as though the Burris appointment should stand.

  • http://helpmejoseph.typepad.com/puma_for_life/ Mountain Girl

Someone needs to send that YouTube of Wallace to Reid; and maybe the congressional black caucus…wow. The Black Republicans are right; the real racists are all in the Democratic party.

    • http://http//www.anvp.wordpress.com soldier4hillary

Your right. Actually, the Republicans used to have the black vote. I wrote a paper once based on the book Voices of Freedom and I swear what they were describing could of been the Democratic party this year during the primaries. The Republicans just don’t attempt to even try to get the AA vote as if we are locked in with the Dems. For life. One thing I learned is that sometimes the person screaming *your racist* the loudest are the ones who deep down are the ones with race as a issue. Some of the things I have been hearing since this story broke had me feeling sympathetic for the Dems in this situation. Until they put that crap out about physically attempting to bar him from entering. That is the worst thing they could of ever done. This is what happens when you play the *fake race card* so much, now, they just dont know what to do.

I think that this is just way to much. Especially when you look at the fact how bad Senator Reid wants Princess I don’t have experience Caroline to get the NY Senate seat. It just doesn’t seem right that anyone despite race or color can be disqualified not based on there merits but someone else. Gov Blago.

      • NoBamaNoWay

correct; it seems like women, racial minorities, and gays just mindlessly stay in the democratic party, without ever really thinking about anything, and without ever asking “what has the democratic party done for me lately?”
my #1 rule of politics is this: politicians are only accountable to people who are willing to vote against them. otherwise, you’re a doormat, and you will be treated accordingly.

  • elise

It’s a wierd image, but came to my mind earlier today, when I read there may be armed guards to prevent Mr. Burris entering the Capital.

If that really should happen, I hope someone is taking pictures so it can go into the history books under the heading of “Harry Reid” along with a list of his failures as Senate Majority Leader.

  • Peggy Sue

I think Blago is playing a wicked game of chess and appointed Burris knowing full well the position it would put the senior leadership in: they’re screwed either way they turn. If they back down, they’ll be seen as caving in, weak. And if they form a protest/stink line around the Senate, they look like bigots and fools.

    Payback time!

I suspect Blago knows the inside game far better than Reid and his merry band of jesters. Afterall, Blago’s been playing hardball in Chicago.

The Dems are being squeezed. And they so-o-o deserve it!

I vote for Forrest Gump, stupid is as stupid does. Although the comparison seems highly insulting to Forrest.

  • TeakwoodKite

All I can say is that Obama’s sleaze knows no bounds. He hasn’t even taken office and it’s infected the Senate. At this rate, he won’t make it to midterms and still be in office. He’ll be run out of town on a rail in 18 months.

A friend just wrote me that Reid et al will be compared to George Wallace, and I click on No Q and there’s the article on George Wallace. And another hilarious Uppity comment. TV programming stinks, but I’ve got No Q and the Congress.

  • LindaA1

I can’t believe the race card being played AGAIN!!! and now No Quarter jumps in???

What difference does it make that Burris is BLACK? Would you be screaming bloody murder if Blago’s appointment was a white person?

This has NOTHING to do with racism. It has everything to do with the law.

Blago (unfortunately)(apparently) still has the right to appoint the position since he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. I don’t like it – but there it is. Either we abide by the law or break it in typical Chicago/Obama fashion when it suits us.

But all this phoney dredging up of Wallace and racial blocking of black men – it’s disgusting.

    • lorac

From my reading, I think you missed the point. These are politicians playing games. Yes, Blago has the legal right (and duty) to appoint BO’s successor, but he has freedom of choice in whom he appoints. His choice of a black man may have been a deliberate attempt to put Reid in a catch-22.

Reid et al. blocking Burris’ entrance may not be on racist grounds, but it will be perceived by that by many, particularly by many blacks, most particularly the groups of whites and blacks who want a black person elected (BO), selected (Burris), found not guilty (OJ), by virtue of their skin color alone.

That other guy at the lecturn (Blago, Burris, and this guy – I think he beat Obama in an election earlier) – it blew me away to hear him talk, his mangled grammar – how can you get to be a senator when you obviously flunked 3rd grade English?

      • TeakwoodKite

how can you get to be a senator when you obviously flunked 3rd grade English?

How do you get to be POTUS?

I threw the Bush calender out at 12:01am.

      • LindaA1

I didn’t miss the point. Of course the likelihood is that Blago intentionally jerked “the chains that be” by appointing a black – but that’s still beside the point.

That “many, particularly many blacks…who wanted a black person elected” are being considered in whether or not Burris should be seated or rejected is ridiculous. Since when do we decide who should be a senator based on ethnicity?

Blago may be laughing his butt off about it, but the issue remains – and should be limited to – whether or not Burris is legally appointed or not. It should have absolutely nothing to do with his skin color.

        • imustprotest

hmmm….lest you forget the election of 2008? Skin color is everything, apparently.

          • http://ezinearticles.com/?Three-Basic-Parenting-Styles&id=744499 Northwest rain

Trolls — just love to scream “race” — just as this bimbo has done.

During the Primaries — there were so many charges of racism at ANYONE who did not bow down and never question anything the ONE said or did.

            At this point I don’t give a damned –

The point is that Obama played to race card — early and often — and his trolls played the card every single day at NQ.

So it is a very big deal that the Gov. Blago appointed Senator just happens to be Black man (not a zero experience female like CK in NY state). This black man besides having experience (= penis) also has some on the job experience with guerrilla warfare (aka — THE Chicago political machine) — so he will probably know how to send $$$ home. And this is all that apparently counts for the Senators from Illinois — keeping $$ fueling the political machine.

Trolls are so damned predictable — plus trolls have NO sense of humor — I think it might have something to do with being cult members. Their messiah has zero sense of humor.

        • catherine

You did’nt seem to mind when your empty suit Nobama smeared the Clintons as racists.

What goes around comes around. Obama’s slimy supporters played the race card 24/7 and now it’s being played right back at them. Tough! Suck it up!

          Karma is a Blago!

      • ILBlue

You are talking about Bobby Rush, who had cancer which causes his face to be stiff and impairs his speech.

FYI, I found out because I made a similar statement about the way he talked, actually I was thinking his speech wasn’t ever very good though. I chalked it up to hard living and possibly years of drugs.

      • Chicago Joe

Well, Reid made it clear that he didn’t want three other “black guys,” namely, Danny Davis, JJ Jr., and Emil Davis.

So what’s a poor governor to do?

Can we presume the Senate leaders have contacted Fitzgerald’s office to determine the status of Blagojevich’s indictment, and whether Fitzgerald can offer up a news conference which might stop the appointment of Burris? Is Blogojevich’s decision to appoint Burris also going to force Fitzgerald to make a statement sooner than he would have? I wonder anyway. The only person who would have suggested to Blagojevich that Jarrett be the appointed Senate replacement, is Obama, and though Obama most likely will not be held accountable, it is Obama who engaged in pay-to-play to get Jarrett appointed through surrogates. Barack and Michelle were the only ones who have had any interest in getting Jarrett appointed. It would be interesting to speculate that Blagojevich appointed Burris to force a response from Fitzgerald…

    • lorac

Fitz asked for a 90 day extension to submit his indictment, because they’re getting phone calls about all of Blago’s dubious/Chicago style dealings.

On the news, they said the Blago impeachment (this is separate from Fitz’ indictment)may happen next week. People have said not to expect too much of it, as he has so much dirt on the “indicting body” (IL congress) that they may not try too hard to indict him.

    • Anna

All Fitz could do, at best, is talk about what a sleazeball Blago is. But this sleazeball is still the elected governor of Illinois, and presumably they aren’t going to rescind all Blago’s decisions (including 22 recent pardons) because the “just found out” that he’s a sleazeball.

    • Annie Oakley

You are probably right. The Jarrett-Obama alliance is extremely close, especially on the MO side. But a story was floated that Rahm was the one pushing Jarrett to get her out of the way so he wouldn’t have to share power in the WH. The way it is being told, Blago was bribing Blago. No one else was on the other end.

  • Chicago Joe

Obama, Lisa Madigan and the rest of the gutless wonders supported Blago in the 2006 election, so they are total hypocrites.

A little history lesson. The Democrats have never truly stood up for race equality. It is the Republican Party of old that ran the underground railroad here in Kansas. They were the party that was anti-slavery. This is a lesson that must be remembered. Today’s Republican Party is a specter of the old Republican Party. I think it would be wise for Reid to let the appointment stand.

It is exactly this history that makes me question why the AAs support Democrats so heavily.

JFK, Obama’s hero was no fan of civil rights either. It took quite sometime for him to support Civil Rights.

Harry Reid is George Wallace only many years later!

    • Wisewoman

Navyvet: I am AA and I do know my history. I also marched with MLK. I know that up until the passage of the civil rights bill, AA were mostly repubs, including MLK and Jackie Robinson to name a few. I know that southern dems tried to keep the civil rights bills from passing while northeastern and midwestern repubs (including Minority Leader Everett Dirken) not only voted for them but pushed their collegues to do the same. Unfortunately AAs have not given credit where credit is due and have not taught our children the true history of that time period. That is also why I am sorry to say that most are gullible to every BHO type race-baiting con artist including JJ, Jr. that come along.
Unfortunately, Nixon with his southern strategy of prostituting for votes and power did not help the situation.

  • http://dissentingjustice.blogspot.com Darren Hutchinson

Well, I am pretty certain Reid would not have done this unless Obama gave his approval. I am very upset over this, not because I have any fondness for Blago or Burris, but because Democrats are so willing to toss aside critical principles of due process — like the presumption of innocence and equality — just to tow a party line. Nonesense.

I was a life-long Democrat until this election. I swore I would work to get my party back from the lunatic liberal fringe.

Now I don’t think I want it back. Obama? A man who knows nothing except how to RUN for office?

Anyone who has ever run a business (and this country is one of the largest businesses in the world) knows that marketing strategies are completely different from administrative strategies. Barack Obama is lost as an administrator – totally lost, he’s NEVER done it on even the smallest scale.

Marketing is all about illusion, hiding the facts, straddling the fence. Administration is all about the finding the facts, making wise decisions, and figuring out how to produce a product or service.

Obama is so lost in his own personal delusion that he wouldn’t know a real fact if it smacked him in the face. He never made a decision in his life that he could avoid. And he certainly has NEVER produced results on anything other than campaigning. (Slums in Chicago?)

Did he EVER answer the president of Iran’s letter of congratulations – AS HE SAID HE WOULD ON THE DAY AFTER HIS FRAUDULENT ELECTION? NO! Have we seen him do anything yet but straddle the fence and avoid decisions that indicate a backbone? No!

And who has Obama chosen to help him? A bunch of hapless Democrats et al chosen specifically to pay off political debts, garner new political capital and solidify Obama’s run for re-election.

Even those who show promise (Hillary) will be hamstrung by Obama’s “I gotta win the next one” policies.

A giraffe is a horse put together by…Obama and the Democratic Congress – for sure.

    WE ARE SCREWED!
