Readers: About your comments

Many of your comments are landing in our spam filter. Larry Johnson, bless his heart, has been poring through the nasty spam filter (filled mostly with pornography), and rescuing your comments.

HERE’s WHAT YOU CAN DO: If your comment does not appear immediately, please e-mail either of us at susanunpc at gmail dot com or larry_johnson at earthlink dot net. We will immediately “fish” for your comment. Be sure to give us 1) your username, 2) your e-mail address, and 3) any key words in your comment since we can use any of those three to easily find your comment, and restore it.

HERE’s WHAT NOT TO DO:

Do not keep posting the same comment. That won’t succeed, and it also makes extra work for us. Instead, if your comment doesn’t appear within a reasonable amount of time (at a tops, 2 minutes), e-mail us.

OF NOTE: The spam filter is designed to “learn” from its mistakes so, once we fish out your comments, it shouldn’t happen to you again. If it does, please e-mail us again, and we’ll keep at it.

Your comments are important to us.

If the spam filter weren’t filled with 800-1000 items of pornographic spam, it would be easy to retrieve your comments, but this time we need your help.

And we’re sorry about the inconvenience. This is an ongoing issue in WordPress, and they keep promising to fix it. One of these days? Soon? We do hope so.

PS…Do NOT want to be OT…but thanks for the Amazon buys…I bought the 12 inch Calphalon Pan…I had one before but used it every single day until it was trashed after years and years. Might actually buy the 9 piece set too!

That cooking knife looks tempting, too, and at 18.95, it’s a steal.

And Bob’s Red Mill — use the flour, and such, for baking.

It’s very good, turning out a superior bread.

(King Arthur Flour is also excellent).

LOL…Yeah I agree Mort…the knife looks great. And I just started digging around the Amazon Outlet, which I had NO idea existed. Bob’s Red Mill stuff is awesome too. Just think…we get great info, have fun, make friends and get to buy cool things too here at NQ

Isn’t that the best cookware ever? Santa brought me some of that set…. and I made rice in it. Then I made so much rice, with vegetables and nuts mixed in, that I had enough for 3 more meals. So I kept heating it up, adding a bit of water and a bit of butter.

When it was all gone, what was at the bottom of that pan? You know the usual scene with a pan like that… there’s be a big sticky bunch of gunk stuck hard to the bottom of the pan that’d require steel wool and lots of elbow grease to clean out.

This Calphalon pan? Just a few specks of rice and flecked right off. OH, I couldn’t believe it. NO MORE SCRUBBBING POTS AND PANS FOR HOURS! So cool. It’s worth every penny.

AND, it’s not the bad kind of non-stick that’s carcinogenic. It’s 100% safe.

  • Mort

The soups, too, Pacific Natural, are very good, just as Susan said, the cream of tomato, and mushroom broth most excellent.

  • http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Yes, Susan, it is THE BEST. Really, I had that last 12 inch pan for at least ten years and used it every day. I actually never put it away and kept it on the stove top because I knew I would always use it. I have a set of Calphalon that is older too. But I am thinking that I need the new one. It really does change the way you cook when you have the appropriate cookware. Thanks again. I can’t BELIEVE I got another 12 inch for this price.

I LOVE those soups. LOL you feel like a real health nut when you buy them. There is nothing better than that tomato soup IMO.

I love Bonjovi…If you’ve ever seen them in concert…wow…you can tell that guy REALLY loves his job. So glad someone in the entertainment industry is doing the right thing.

That is so weird — porno? I had to dump an email address I had for years because some nitwit put my email address on every single porno list he could find. He was the son of a democrat (campaign 2000) and the kid hated Tipper Gore.

I’ll bet that same kid (now grown up) is an O-bot and he’s still at his old tricks.

ANYWAY — thanks so much for the tip about that pan — it is my absolutely favorite pan. I love to make what I call a “boat stew” — everything in one pan — perfect for our cold, damp Northwest winters.

I’ll order some of the Rice Flour — I use a lot of that for muffins.

Thanks for the spam tips — I’ve just kept sending again and again. And you’re right — once Spammy decides to eradicate a post — no matter how you change the dang thing — Spammy keeps telling me that I’ve already said that.

Northwest Rain…I personally would be way bummed if your posts did not come through LOL.

Thanks for the info, Susan. I’ve lost four posts today and yesterday.

I hereby promise to stop hitting “Add comment” reflexively.

I bought “Scarpetta” for my Kindle….Kay and Benton are married. She gave up her little carriage house in Charleston to move to Boston for him. There’s a mysterious, anonymous NY gossip blog involved (imagine that). Kay is now a regular contributor to CNN and also mentions the misogyny in the last election cycle. Kay must’ve been a Hillary supporter. Love Cornwell. I may have to try some of those soups and nuts too.

It’s really good soup, organic, and creamy, in texture.

You really can’t go back to the cans after you eat it…

  • stodgie

i have tried various soups at the local stores. whole foods is ok. their tomato is outstanding. but surprisingly the randalls has the best soup. i’d better get over there by 1:00 during the week or it is long gone.

There are clerics and philosophers who spend a lifetime ruminating about the ultimate nature of the universe; I, on the other hand, ponder the mysteries of the Ineffable Spam Filter, which ultimately may be the same kind of meditation.

I have reached a few conclusions:
1–It is absolutely necessary for the workings of the Spam Filter to be a complete mystery: if the Spammers can figure out the rules, the Spam Filter is useless.
2–In order for the Spam Filter to remain a complete mystery, there must be a certain amount of arbitrary and senseless operation. Some perfectly good and harmless posts must be trashed along with the spam in order to maintain Inscrutable Credibility. Some of the righteous must perish along with the wicked. Call it “collateral damage.”
3–In order to maintain our sanity as devout residents of the blogosphere, we must accept the premises of 1 and 2 above, and humbly submit to having some of our good and decent posts trashed for no reason whatsoever. It is the price of living in this admittedly unjust universe. Abraham must be willing to offer up Isaac, no questions asked. And so be it.
