Jonathan Martin of Politico reports that the Pennsylvania GOP is running the following
ad in the Key Stone state. Martin writes:

McCain has refused to invoke Wright or allow his campaign to use the pastor in ads. A senior campaign aide said they knew nothing about the Pennsylvania party’s ad in advance. Officials with the state party didn’t respond to an e-mail.

Martin, however, wants to blame McCain for the ad:

McCain’s campaign is taking a hands-off approach, not disavowing the ad.

Says campaign spokesman Peter Feldman.

“John McCain’s position with regard to Reverend Wright is clear. He is not the referee of every political ad in this election.”

Of course, McCain is the leader of the leader the GOP, and could urge a state party to not air such an ad.

Of course Martin is upset because this ad is accurate. This ad is fundamentally about judgment. Obama chose a racist pastor and stayed with him for 20 years; that’s bad judgment. Obama infers that Pennsylvanians are racists. These facts about Obama and his devotion to Wright along with the insults directed at the good people of Pennsylvania will swing many Independents to McCain.

Obama’s arrogance is repulsive; his judgment is worse.

::::::::::::

UPDATE from Bronwyn Obamanot: As our regular readers know from reading our stories on Friday and Saturday — including “GOPTrust.com Kicks A–! (Great ads in all the battleground states!)” — another 527, GOPTrust.com, is also running a searing ad about Obama’s long relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Many of you contributed to the 527′s fund, and I want to be sure to let you know that your donations are paying off!

On Sunday night, one of our writers noticed that GOPTrust paid to run the ad during the highly-rated CBS primetime Sunday reality TV show, The Amazing Race.

Now that is hot ad placement! The Amazing Race has won 11 Primetime Emmy awards.

The prime-time Nielsen ranking and rating for the October 21st airing is:

18. “Amazing Race 13,” CBS, 10.29 million viewers.

Imagine that. Your contributions enabled GOPTrust.com to reach over 10 million people tonight during a show that is ranked 18th out of all prime-time primary network programming — and that’s just on the one ad spot that we are aware of. True to its word, GOPTrust.com has placed its ads in as many spots as possible, both nationally and in the key battleground states.

Tell Bill Ayers that that is true “power to the people.” Tell the anti-free speech Obamabots that all the viewers of tonight’s Amazing Race saw this ad:

Obama and Wright: He Never Complained Once

DONATION CLARIFICATION–Folks, we have had an influx of donations to NoQuarter today. It is much appreciated but I finally started asking some of the contributors and they want the money to go to GOPTrust. Because I am incorporated, I cannot forward the money to GOPTrust, because they do not accept corporate money. You need to donate to them directly. I will make a personal contribution to try to ensure that a comparable amount of money that NoQuarter has received is donated from a personal account. Please use the link below that takes you directly to GOPTrust. Thanks. Larry

[OUTSTANDING NEWS! THE DENVER GROUP IS REPORTING THAT OUR COMMUNITY HAS RAISED $1900 IN THE SHORT TIME OF THIS FUND DRIVE -- GIVE NOW!!!]

At the end of the Democratic Primary season, this was the situation:

Popular Vote
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton: 17,857,446, (48.04%)
Senator Barack Obama: 17,584,649 (47.31%)

Pledged delegates

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton: 1,730.5 (39.17%)
Senator Barack Obama: 1,747.5 (39.55%)

(source)

Then, for no apparent good reason, in June Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosis decided THEY, not the delegates chosen by the electorate and not the superdelegates appointed via proper party procedure, were going to decide who would represent the top of the ticket for the general election. Now that same leadership wants YOU to legitimize their undemocratic and unprincipled methods by putting their selected candidate into the White House on November 4.

But WE can say no to the subversion of democratic principles within the Democratic Party. We can say no with our votes and by urging our fellow Democrats to pay attention to the particulars of the candidate Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi selected to represent the Democratic Party.

Put this ad on the air and let America know that our voices count.

Over the next 24 hours and across the internet, we as a community will urgently be raising money to run edgy and persuasive ads made by Democrats in key battleground states. Generous contributors have pledged $500 in matching funds. Your voice counts. Please contribute now

The American Issues Project, the 501 (c)4 organization whose first ad exposed Obama’s long-term friendship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and which the Obama team tried to quash, released a new ad on Wednesday about the economic meltdown, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and corruption. This ad does not mention Obama or the fact he received the second largest amount of donations from Freddie and Frannie, but it does talk about Sen. Chris Dodd, the man who received the most donations. Although not directed at Obama, this ad implies the danger of an Obama administration coupled with the corruption and sleaze in Washington which is the cause of this crisis. In this way, I think the ad underscores McCain’s anti-Washington, maverick message:

The American Issues Project, in a press release from today, says the ad seeks to put the blame of the crisis on Washington liberals:

Our ad seeks to set the record straight and let the American people know who is responsible for this $700 billion catastrophe,” said Ed Martin, the organization’s president. “While liberals and some in the media try to affix blame to the Bush Administration for the housing crisis and resulting financial meltdown, this is one case where the real impetus for all these troubles is crystal clear. It was not the free market but government supported and propped-up institutions Fannie and Freddie that are the root cause. All roads for this failure lead back to liberals and their close ties to these two government institutions.

The initial ad buy is for $1 million and it will run on cable news networks.

Below is the first ad on Obama’s ties to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers:

A 527 group called Right Change has released four anti-Obama ads. Each ad revolves around either the crisis at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac highlighting Obama’s ties to Fannie Mae’s former CEO and current unofficial advisor Franklin Raines or on Obama’s economic proposals. Technically, three ads are anti-Obama (negative) and one pro-McCain (positive). Each ad is a 30 second spot and packs quite a punch.

It has been my view that the 527 group ads that are attacking Obama over his past associations with William Ayers and the Reverend Wright are largely missing the mark. These center, I think, on issues that are more front and center in the campaign right now and I think that they might be more effective in reversing the tide towards Obama.

Here is Right Change’s self-description:

RightChange.com is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to helping Americans see through the haze of politicians’ “spin” to understand the facts about crucial policy choices. Our goal is to make sure that the coming wave of political change in America is the “right” kind of change, in terms of conforming to the facts and common sense.

They may be a non-profit but I’m not sure about non-partisan because these are probably the hardest hitting anti-Obama ads that I have seen so far. I’ll also note that as of late last week, 527 groups were spending 3:1 in favour of pro-Obama groups. In terms of minutes per medium, most of the anti-McCain ads are actually running on radio, not television. It seems odd that both the Obama campaign which is running the largest radio ad buys ever and the anti-McCain 527 group ads would independently opt for radio. 527 groups by law cannot coordinate any part of their ads or strategy with any candidate or his campaign.
