Who is Joshua DuBois, you ask (pictured here with Obama)? Well, he is the 26 yr old Obama tagged to be the Director of Obama’s new Faith Based Office. Yes, this 26 yr old Pentecostal pastor, without any formal seminary training, who, from his “resume” has done little more than go to school, is the head of this office. What qualifies him for this position? What ecumenical work has he done in the past?

I cannot help but wonder how in the world this young man with such a limited resume came to Obama’s attention, and out of ALL of the ministers in this country with far more experience and qualifications, this guy is the one Obama picked? But there he is.

I wrote a little about DuBois and Obama’s Faith-Based Initiatives recently (”Gimme That Old Time Religion“), and Obama’s expansion of Bush’s range. And now, it is official. Obama kicked it off at the National Prayer Breakfast the other day. Wanna guess what particularly odious piece Obama did not remove from Bush’s plan? The hiring issue. You know the one. It’s whether or not a group getting federal money could demand the people they hired believed the same as the organization doing the hiring. And for now, the answer is YES. You may recall that on the campaign trail, Obama said this:

On the campaign trail last year, Obama vowed to reverse the Bush hiring policy. “As someone who used to teach constitutional law, I believe deeply in the separation of church and state,” Obama said last July in a speech that pledged to expand Bush’s office of faith-based initiatives. “If you get a federal grant, you can’t use that grant money to proselytize to the people you help, and you can’t discriminate against them—or against the people you hire—on the basis of their religion.”

Except when you can, apparently. Naturally, all of the secular groups are crying foul, like Kathryn Kolbert of People For the American Way:

“President Obama needs to make good on his campaign promise that tax dollars aren’t used to unconstitutionally discriminate on the basis of religion,” said Kathryn Kolbert, president of People for the American Way.

She added: “It’s disappointing that today President Obama has missed an opportunity to put it into practice immediately.

Oh, sure – I just know Obama will get right on that, Ms. Kolbert. Hahaha – good one.

Funny, it wasn’t all that long ago that a spokeswoman for PFAW said:

“We’re glad to have a good seat at the table and that [the Obama transition team] is listening to all sides,” says Tanya Clay House, director of public policy for People for the American Way, which has expressed concerns about the propriety of federal faith-based initiatives. “The old administration listened to just one side of the argument.”

And look how well that “good seat” worked out for you, Tanya, not to mention the TAXPAYERS in this country. But I am just so sure Obama will come through for you, the other progressives at that wonderful table, and us. Right? Sure. Well, maybe, according to Mr. DuBois:

The newly named director of the Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships Office, Joshua DuBois, said that it was impossible to give a timeline for resolving the hiring issue and that resolution might come on a case-by-case basis, rather than in a sweeping policy directive.

“This is an area of unclear policy and practice, but we can now begin seeking the advice of government and outside actors and see what groups are doing on the ground,” said DuBois, who had previously served as religious outreach director of Obama’s presidential campaign. “The previous administration made decisions without understanding the state of law and practice.”

And the Obama Administration is different on that count HOW, exactly?? *Crickets* That’s what I thought.

And then there was the following article by Martha Burk at Huffington Post. Oh, don’t worry, I have the whole thing here so you don’t have to click over. Why? Because I care. Anyway, Ms. Burk is kinda mad about all of this whole because she claims that, “Obama’s Faith-Based Office An Insult To Women.” Oh, “Sweetie” – are you “feeling blue” because Obama is shoving women to the side again? May I ask, just what in his entire campaign history made you think he was going to NOT throw women overboard? Did you not get just a little inkling when he played Jay Z’s “99 Problems But a Bitch Ain’t One?” (And frankly, this has been so well documented by now, it does not need a link.) Or did you think when he signed the Lilly Ledbetter Act into law, it meant he cared about anything more than a photo op? You know that he (and Biden) weren’t even one of the 54 co-sponsors of that bill, right? And you SURELY must have heard that he didn’t even pay women the same on his staff as the men for the same job, didn’t you? Yeah – he only gave them 78 cents compared to the dollar for the men. I mean, I know you write for Huffington Post and all, but c’mon – you NEVER caught how incredibly sexist he was to Clinton, Palin, and women in general?? Really??

Apparently not:

President Obama attended the annual National Prayer Breakfast yesterday and used the opportunity to tout the reconstitution and expansion of George W. Bush’s Office on Faith Based Initiatives. In his remarks the president said he didn’t want to favor one religion over another, or “even religious groups over secular groups.” But in fact, that’s just what he’s doing.

National women’s organizations have been lobbying Obama, who has said he is a feminist, to reopen the White House Office on Women’s Issues. So far the answer is a big fat no – women’s concerns will be under the already swamped Office of Public Liaison. That’s a tiny shop that’s chronically understaffed and overstretched. Even with the best intentions, there’s almost no chance they can interface with women’s advocates in a meaningful way, much less shape policy to overcome the many setbacks we inherited from the Bush years.

Hold the phone – you BELIEVED him when he said he was a FEMINIST? All evidence to the contrary, it would seem. Burk continues:

In a direct insult to women, George W. Bush closed the Clinton-era White House Office on Women’s Issues in his first week, then ensconced the first-ever church/state liaison office in the same space. For our new president to “keep the faith” with religious groups while short-changing women is equally insulting. There is no doubt that women are responsible for his election. Females went for Obama by 56 percent to McCain’s 43 percent, while men split their votes about evenly. The Jesus crowd, on the other hand, voted 60% against the president.

You know what was an insult, Ms. Burk? A man who said absolutely NOTHING in the face of sexist, misogynistic attacks like this:

Now THAT’S insulting, regardless of whether it was Clinton or Palin. It speaks to a mindset, and a pattern. Never mind Obama flipping Clinton the bird, or brushing her off his shoulder, again in Jay Z style (and again, if you haven’t seen examples of either one of these instances, you need to see an optometrist). Or promoting – PROMOTING – a young man who had a photograph of himself
groping a cutout of Secretary of State (to be, at that time) Clinton ON THE INTERNET, to be the top speechwriter position in the White House. So if you think Obama is a feminist, I would suggest you are unclear on the definition of “feminist.” Here’s one for you:

Feminism is the belief that women have equal political, social, sexual, intellectual and economic rights as men do.

Nope – can’t see how you ever thought Obama was one. EVER.

Burk continues in her complaint about Obama shunning women for religion:

The newly constituted “office for faith-based programs and community partnerships” will be headed by Joshua DuBois, a 26-year-old Pentecostal preacher and Obama confidant, who will preside over a task force of 25 or so religious and community leaders. This group will give DuBois advice, which will presumably be passed on to the president.

To accord this advisory panel so much power, while relegating women to the margins, speaks volumes. Religious groups gained a lot from the Bush years – access to the White House, and millions of dollars in federal money, some of which was used to proselytize. And don’t forget, almost all faiths consider women second class citizens; many actively campaign against affirmative action, the Women’s Equality Amendment, the international human rights treaty for women known as CEDAW, and civil rights for gays and lesbians. Keeping this act going – even if it is broadened to include “community members” – is not the change women voted for.

You so were not paying attention to the entire primary and election campaigns, Ms. Burk. Obama has been pushing this religious agenda all along, including using people like Doug Kmiec, a Prop 8 proponent, to push that agenda. He has surrounded himself with sexist, homophobic pastors who he considers his close friends and confidants. And you thought that this wouldn’t have an impact on where women fell on the totem pole with him?? Okey dokey…

But Ms. Burk continues, like so many of the women who voted for Obama, to give him the benefit of the doubt, even though he has done NOTHING to deserve it:

It’s not too late for President Obama to change his mind and give the majority – women – a place at the table by re-opening the White House Office on Women’s Issues. If he really does support women as he claims, restoring the losses of the last eight years on reproductive rights, enforcement of Title IX, Medicaid funding, and employment protections should be given a higher priority than keeping the religious right happy for what promises to be a very short honeymoon.

Women’s groups are elated that the Texans are finally out of the White House. But if the new president wants their continuing loyalty, he ought to follow some good ol’ Texas advice: Dance with the one that brung ya.

Uh huh. MS. Burk, if I were you, I would not hold my breath for that. And you might want to consider removing those blinders or rose-colored glasses or blindfold that have kept you from seeing who Obama really is, especially when it comes to the treatment of women. It won’t change anything now – you already helped to get this sexist pig into the White House. But it will probably be better for your health to stop having unrealistic expectations of this man.

And it will be better for the country if the people who so blindly clung to his hope-y change-y message realized they were had by a marketing ploy, nothing more, and not re-elect this man. Now THAT is a change for which I dearly hope.

Oh, one last thing, Ms. Burk. Perhaps you might want to spend some time meditating on the following message, and consider that the next time you vote:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ohjlmIeE2rI/SY8yG0taSRI/AAAAAAAAAVY/9piIp-TWooc/s400/No+Self+Respecting+Woman.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5300510379248077074" />

I’m just sayin’.

I came across this article on Tuesday by Jonah Goldberg, “Day 15 of Obama’s honeymoon“: One doesn’t have to break a sweat searching for examples of the news media’s ongoing love affair with our president. In this, he is like FDR. I have to say, on some levels it was reassuring. Apparently, the country has been through all of this fawning by a press corps or sychophants, and survived. Mr. Goldberg has this to say:

Barack Obama and his supporters have been relentlessly comparing the new president to Franklin Roosevelt. At least one similarity is shockingly accurate: They were both beneficiaries of an obsequious press corps.

In part because the feeling was mutual, the reporters hated FDR’s Republican predecessor, Herbert Hoover. The new Democratic president, however, left White House correspondents “jubilant,” in one historian’s words. Indeed, they were so charmed by his first news conference, reporters literally burst into applause when he was done. One grizzled newspaperman observed that “the press barely restrained its ‘whoopees.’ ”

There’ve been no standing ovations — yet — with Obama, but there’s no denying that many in the news media are clapping on the inside. Obviously, not everyone is swooning, as the news media aren’t a monolith. And, yes, President Obama deserves his honeymoon. But honeymoons suggest a respectful partnership of equals. What we’re seeing here is more like a gaggle of aging love-struck groupies following Jon Bon Jovi around.

That’s quite the image, isn’t it? Accurate, too. Come to think of it, considering Obama listens to misogynistic rappers like JayZ, maybe HE should have been the example Goldberg used. Ahem. He continues:

Though no one’s idea of an objective reporter, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews does express the euphoria nicely. On The Tonight Show, he told Jay Leno that the Obamas “are really cool. They are Jack and Jackie Kennedy when you see them together. They are cool. And they’re great looking, and they’re cool and they’re young, and they’re — everything seems to be great. I know I’m selling them now. I’m not supposed to sell, OK? … But the fact is, I wouldn’t be an honest reporter if I didn’t tell you what the spiritual experience is like of being in a Barack Obama rally.” …

On Inauguration Day, Matthews came a hair’s breadth from shrieking like a teenage girl at the Beatles’ debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. As is often the case with crushes, what Matthews seems to like best about Obama is how he makes Matthews feel about himself — and his network. “This is the network that has opened its heart to change, to change and its possibilities,” Matthews gushed.

I am providing a break here in case you need to run to the bathroom to throw up.

Okay. I’m just shaking my head at what passes for “journalism” these days, but MSNBC/NBC has demonstrated long ago that they are nothing more than a propaganda arm. No surprise. As to the bias, Goldberg writes:

One of the great tests of news media bias is when the storyline has become unfalsifiable. With George W. Bush, no matter what he did, the facts always seemed to prove he was to blame. With Obama, no matter what he does, he’s always the hero. For instance, during a trip to China in 2005, then-President Bush tried to open a locked door while leaving a news conference, and the press tittered at his buffoonery. Yet last week, when President Obama walked into an Oval Office window that he thought was a door, much of the news media looked the other way — perhaps recognizing his genius at spotting where a door should have been.

Bush’s love of exercise was analyzed as a troubling obsession of an out-of-touch president. Obama’s fixation with physical fitness gives numerous reporters hope that he will alleviate America’s obesity epidemic. In a front-page exclusive, The Washington Post revealed that on Obama’s recent vacation, the Hawaiian “sun glinted off (his) chiseled pectorals sculpted during four weightlifting sessions each week, and a body toned by regular treadmill runs and basketball games.”

Remember that? How people made fun of Bush for riding his bike all of the time, and for exchanging his drinking addiction to an addiction for exercise? Everyone made fun of him. Now, of course, it’s cool because Obama is hip, cool, and “chiseled” (cough, choke). But it isn’t only the superficial in which these differences are highlighted:

A more serious example can be found in some of the news coverage of the stimulus bill. Obama made it his top priority to get bipartisan support for his unprecedented spending bill. The president exerted enormous personal effort to sway House Republicans to his cause but failed to win a single GOP vote, and he even lost 11 Democrats. And yet the Post reported in another front-page article that the Democratic House’s passage of the bill — which was always assured — “marked a big victory for his presidency a little more than a week into his term.” Indeed, it’s hard to see how anything short of a crushing defeat would be described as anything other than a “big victory.”

He meant to do that

Oh, yeah, that’s the ticket. It was all part of his master plan!! Just like this:

Then there’s Obama’s inaugural address, which was panned as pedestrian by pretty much everyone who hasn’t drunk the Kool-Aid and was received as the greatest oration since Henry V rallied the British at Agincourt by everyone else. Leave it to New York magazine’s political reporter, John Heilemann, to square the circle. He conceded that Obama’s speech failed to deliver the goods, inspirationwise. But, don’t ya see, he meant to do that. In a piece titled, “Obama’s Spare Inaugural Rhetoric Signals Strategic Mastery,” Heilemann explained that the speech was “less than thrilling in itself, perhaps by design.”

Apparently, the press corps has decided that antonyms are the way to go in reporting these days. Well, golly gee, I guess this is their idea of “change.”

Goldberg concludes his article with the daily barrage of what Saint Obama means to do today, or what pithy little detail they can find about his personal regimen, or what he and the family eat for breakfast, which will no doubt bring about World Peace:

Since the inauguration, it seems every day brings another article about “Day 3″ or “Day 7″ or “Day 12.5″ of the Obama presidency. And each one reads like a People magazine blog about American Idol. Everything he does signals hope for peace in the Middle East or race relations or the economy or whatever.

CNN’s John King recently said “nobody disputes” that journalists are too enraptured by Obama’s historic presidency; he seems to think it will wear off when the serious work of the nation kicks in.

History is not so reassuring. “You are still the most interesting person,” newspaper editor William Allen White told FDR at the end of his second term. “For box office attraction you leave Clark Gable gasping for breath.” (Jonah Goldberg, editor at large of National Review Online, is a member of USA TODAY’s board of contributors.)

See, I think it is reassuring, because it demonstrates that the country has survived this kind of sophomoric fawning by the media before. FDR, Bush II, and now Obama. It gives me hope that at SOME point, they will realize what a grave disservice they have done this country by their lack of unbiased coverage. One can on;y hope that John King is right – maybe he’ll be one of the first journalists to get off the bandwagon. One can but hope.

********************************

UPDATE/CORRECTION?: Thanks to reader LDP doing some more digging, we now believe that Jay-Z and Young Jeezy exhibited their crude behavior at a concert Monday night called “Jay-Z’s ‘Concert On The Eve Of Change’.” See photos. Lovely. (He performed his apparently revered new hit song, “History,” which I’ve added at the end of this post.) Get this: He charged big bucks for tickets, which scalpers quickly scooped up. Via sohh.com:

The “affordable” tickets reportedly sold-out in a matter of minutes.

Only the highest online bidders will have the chance to see the hip-hop superstar honor the new president-elect. The cheapest seats for the show, located in the balcony of Washington’s Warner Theatre, cost between $195 and $375 depending on the view. Those disappeared from Ticketmaster in less than five minutes after going on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. (CNN)

****************************************

In light of LisaB’s great article earlier today, “The ‘racist’ angle, going forward,” I have to ask how this disgusting, utterly vulgar trash talking by “Young Jeezy” and “Jay-Z” at one of the Tuesday night inaugural balls (!) — featured in a segment on The O’Reilly Factor — is not also racist. Racism, contrary to the high-minded assumptions of the elite mainstream media and academia, is not a one-way street.

As I researched this story, I found more and more must-read items, and this story goes clear back to Obama’s behavior during the Democratic primaries. So, let me distill all below into a few succinct key points:

     1) During the Democratic primaries, candidate Barack Obama evoked the motions and style of Jay-Z in order to mock and demean Hillary Clinton. Obama’s gestures — unfamiliar to us who aren’t into hip-hop but instantly understood by all who are into that “music” — were summed up in a great article published at No Quarter, “Obama Invokes Jay-Z: ‘Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law’.”

     2) Jay-Z is regarded as an “A-list” celebrity, even by the so-called MSM.

     3) Not only that, Jay-Z was awarded the privilege and protection of an official police escort this week in Washington, D.C. (although we don’t know who picked up the tab for that).

     4) Jay-Z attends the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball — which means he was invited (!) — with his pal Young Jeezy, and the two tear up the place with a racist rant that essentially flaunts black power because they have a black president.

     5) During the Neighborhood Ball, Jay-Z and Young Jeezy pitch a nasty, foul-mouthed fit that they’re not asked to perform at the Ball.

     6) We learn that Jay-Z, along with Arcade Fire, has been chosen by the top administrators of the Obama campaign staff to headline a special concert for the hardest-working Obama campaign staff in D.C.

     7) We therefore conclude that, while on Inaugural Day, the Obamas danced to the more elegant Beyonce, they are still promoting the filth and misogyny of Jay-Z and other “performers” of his ilk, just as they did during the campaign.
Above all else, what Jay-Z and Young Jeezy sell is misogyny, sexism, and the objectification of women, as well as dangerous hatred of all other races except blacks. Ironically, sadly, those sales are made to a lot of white, Asian and Hispanic kids.

Here are some sample lyrics from Jay-Z and Young Jeezy are below (brace yourselves). There are more lyrics like this:

How We Ball In The Club, I Know You Hate It
Mommy Dancing On The Floor, All Like She Naked
When She Lay Down With You, I Know She Fake It
All The Girls Give It To Me, I Ain’t Gotta Take It …

Then there are these “lyrics” from Jay-Z’s song that inspired Obama’s gesture, captured on YouTube (seen at the end of this story), towards Hillary Clinton:

If you feelin’ like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder

Now for all the details of the above summary. First, this segment was aired on Bill O’Reilly’s show Wednesday night:

Bill O’Reilly didn’t have the whole story. Not by a long shot. First, there are these remarks by YouTube channel owner (Mark1 Williams, a black man) whose video is below:

and jayz had the nerve to act like his feelings were hurt when he wasn’t asked to perform. these are grown men for god’s sake. *shaking my head*

So Mark Williams believes that Jay-Z behaved like this at the ball Tuesday night. You’ve now seen our update above. We just aren’t sure which night it was. But the point that Williams made was that Jay-Z was acting out furiously because he wasn’t invited to perform at the inaugural ball? Jay-Z is an arrogant racist and a misogynistic blowhard afflicted with stunted emotional growth.

BELOW is the un-censored video of Jay-Z’s antics at the inaugural ball Tuesday night, posted by YouTube channel owner Mark1 Williams. STRONG WARNING: The language is very raw, so prepare yourself before you click and, if you’re sensitive to such vulgarity, skip it:

Not that you’re likely to want to see more, but if you do, here’s a link to more such videos from Tuesday night and from those two, uh, performers.

NOW GET THIS. While researching this story, I discovered that Jay-Z has no reason to pout for not getting to perform at the inaugural balls since he is performing, along with Arcade Fire, at an exclusive private party for key Obama campaign staffers as a “thank you” from the campaign. Bill O’Reilly didn’t have this either, even though it’s published by the NYT reporter who spewed bile on Hillary Clinton, Adam Nagourney, at the New York Times Caucus blog as well as at PitchforkMedia and other media outlets. PitchforkMedia praises “Jay and the Arcade Fire [who] both campaigned hard for Obama. … [T]his should be an incredible show, and it seems a fair bet those staffers will hear that “My President is Black” remix at some point.

Oh wow. Don’t we hope. That “My President is Black” remix? It features not only Jay-Z but his partner in filth, “Young Jeezy.”

Isn’t it great that our new president is treating his hardest-working campaign staffers to these sleazeballs?

Do you recall the great article we posted on Jay-Z by Laluchasigue? It’s this article: “Obama Invokes Jay-Z: ‘Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law’.”

Here’s the history behind Jay-Z that O’Reilly left out of his program Wednesday night:

Obama mimicked Jay-Z during the campaign to connect with hip young black voters and — and! — to denigrate Secretary Hillary Clinton, along with, let’s face it, all women since these two are clearly misogynistic. Shockingly, Obama was willing to stoop to Jay-Z’s level to get votes. So, actually, what took place at the Tuesday inaugural ball is in part Obama’s own fault because he legitimized these foul-mouthed lousy performers by mimicking them, especially in rallies dominated by black voters. Wrote Laluchasigue:

Obama’s invocation of Jay-Z’s defiant “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” battle anthem during the same speech adds evidence to the claim that he gave Hillary the finger.

Obama’s gesture prompted a mash-up video that made the Jay-Z/Obama connection explicit. Ari Melber, the other Obamabot named Ari at The Nation, posted the video on The Nation’s website, noting, “Obama really is a Jay-Z fan, too. When asked which hip hop artists he likes in a recent interview, he said, ‘lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jay-Z — this new American Gangster album.’”

Sigh. Yeah. That American Gangster album is da bomb. Great taste, Mr. President. Just great. And what a fine example to the nation’s youth.

Dennis Miller is correct, in the O’Reilly segment, about the two young men being unable to “ratchet down the hate.”

But let’s face it. If those two didn’t have white people to hate, and women to trash, what in the hell would they have left to rap about?

And I LOVE what Miller says about the term “ho’s” versus “hose.” (That’s another strong theme in this kind of “music” [I use the term reluctantly] in that it is also misogynistic and constantly regards women as objects whose sole function is for the gratification of male sexual pleasure.)

Quite frankly, their “music” is nothing more than crudely dysfunctional emotional ejaculation and has nothing to do with the deepest needs of all psychologically healthy human beings, which are to connect emotionally as well as physically.

This kind of language, and what it conveys, has no place in our society. Racism can, and does, affect ALL races.. And the speech of Jay-Z and Young Jeezy is racist against whites, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asian Americans.

It makes me sick to my stomach that young people are spending money — most likely their parents’ hard-earned money — to make rich brats out of these thugs. It repulses me that young people are reveling in the music put out by disgusting hate-filled people like these two. Bill O’Reilly’s minimization of their impact is woefully wrong. The truth is that far too many young people are listening to music like this.

Can we have a little class, please. Is that too much to ask? A little more Beyonce and no more Jay-Z?

Naturally, the vast majority of blacks yesterday rejoiced in the inauguration of the nation’s first black president. But there were a few who used the occasion to preach hate and racism against anyone who’s not black like them.

President Obama must do all he can to set these young thugs straight, and to discourage young people from imitating their behavior and adopting their sickening attitudes.

Perhaps President Obama can begin by not emulating them in order to win a presidential election.

*******************************

I finished the above story but it kept bugging me. So I searched the news for more reports.

This is by an LA Times reporter for its arts section, “The Culture Monster,” who spotted Jay-Z in the morning:

I walked to the southeastern edge of the Capitol this morning with my sister and a friend. They held blue tickets for the swearing-in ceremony; mine was green. We parted at the corner of Independence Avenue and South Capitol Street. And while I progressed rather quickly through a battery of security checkpoints and found my seat around 9 a.m. — well before a parade of celebrities including Jay-Z (wearing a gigantic, Yeltsin-esque fur hat), Beyonce and Maria Shriver swept past me toward their seats nearby — they stood motionless in a massive block of people that went nowhere. They ultimately gave up after standing in line for four hours.

Here’s another not-too-deep report, “Leonardo DiCaprio Joins Beyonce, Jay-Z, and More at Neighborhood Inaugural Ball.”

And last, this from the San Francisco Examiner:

How the mighty have fallen – Jennifer Lopez locked out of Jay-Z show at Obama Inaugural

[...]

Real A-listers like Jay-Z, who was getting around town with a police escort, and Alicia Keys had been warned to make it to balls and other celebrations up to four hours early to make it past the snarled traffic and tight security. Even Leonardo DiCaprio and Toby “Spiderman” Maquire were there early. …

Got that? Jay-Z is a “real A-lister” who gets a “police escort” — and who’s paying for that? The taxpayers of Washington, D.C.? And who ordered that he merited a police escort? I’d like to know who arranged that. Was it an Obama staffer? And why?

My jaw has dropped so many times while writing this article that I can’t find it anymore.

So a misogynistic, foul-mouthed creep like Jay-Z gets A-list treatment, a police escort, and a lead in the entertainment for Obama’s most prized campaign staffers? And he served as a role model for Obama to capture the black vote?

What world am I living in?

The one thing I do know is that it’s not my world or my country. It’s not my family’s world. It’s not my mother’s world (she’d be shocked beyond belief by this article if she were alive to read it).

Down is up.

Class is trash.

And I’m glad that I chose to stay away from that campaign and that candidate, if those are the celebrities and the “talent” he chooses to reward.

I’ll stick with the one who should be president.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Now there’s real class.

But remember this video. That crowd got exactly what Obama was doing:

That gesture comes from these lyrics:

[Chorus: Jay-Z]
If you feelin’ like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder

[Verse One]
I probably owe it to y’all, probably to be locked by the force
Tryin to hustle some things, that go with the Porsche
Feelin no remorse, feelin like my hand was forced
Middle finger to the law, nigga grippin ma balls
Stab the ladies they love me, from the bleachers they screamin
All the ballers is bouncin, they like the way I be leanin
All the rappers be hatin, off the track that I’m makin
But all the hustlers they love it just to see one of us make it
Came from the bottom the bottom, to the Top of the Pops
Nigga London, Japan and I’m straight off the block
Like a running back, get it man, I’m straight off the block
I can run it back nigga cause I’m straight with the Roc
=

Just remember, as if I have to repeat it, from above:

“Obama really is a Jay-Z fan, too. When asked which hip hop artists he likes in a recent interview, he said, ‘lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jay-Z — this new American Gangster album.’”

What an example to the nation’s children our new president is.

********************************

UPDATE on “Jay-Z’s ‘Concert On The Eve Of Change’.” (H/T to LDP, who did some more digging, and found out that Jay-Z probably performed those antics at the Monday night concert he held. See photos. Lovely. (He performed his apparently revered new hit song, “History,” which I’ve added at the end of this post.) See sohh.com for more background on the concert.

NOW HERE ARE SOME of the lyrics to his lauded song, “History” — I note that “defeat” is a woman, but of course:

Known for his clever usage of metaphors, Jay compares Obama’s victory to his yearning and frustration over a woman.

“Until she visit me/I’ll be stuck with her sister her name is defeat/she gives me agony/I‘m
stuck in this routine/whole new different day/same old thing/all I got
is dreams/nobody else could see/nobody else believes/nobody else but
me/Where are you victory/I need you desperately/not just for the
moment, to make history.”

NOTE: I am closing the comments in this thread due to length, and extra stress on the servers. Please go up to the full reprinting to continue your discussions.

The song, which debuted on Angie Martinez’s Hot 97 radio show in New York City, comes after months of Jay’s personal endorsement of Obama at concerts, rallies with fans throughout the nation and exclusive Obama benefit shows.

(Thank you to Jeremiah God Damn AmeriKKKa Wright for alerting us to this story and for providing videos.)

Senator Barack Obama returns to his boorish behavior by flipping off Senator John McCain while obstensibly praising him at an event. As in past instances where he’s done this to Senator Hillary Clinton, the crowd gets it, even if the media chooses to ignore it.

Obama is a repeat offender.

Here he does the same to Senator Hillary Clinton on April 17, 2008:

Here he uses a derogatory gesture by brushing off Clinton in the manner of Jay-z:

Larry Johnson, among others at NoQuarter, has written at length on this. See his article, “When Obama Does It Repeatedly It Is a Strategy [Updated],” from September 11, 2008.

Here, Barack Obama talks about Senator Clinton “periodically” feeling down (sexist bastard):

And here’s another presidential moment for Senator Barack Obama. Further, note carefully that this is the music and content that Obama feels is appropriate for his own three-year-old daughter.

For more on this, see Larry Johnson’s article, “Obama, You Are Ludicrous,” from August 2, 2008.

BELOW, IN FULL, THE BEST STORY WE EVER PUBLISHED on the reprehensible Jay-Z incident:

“Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law”

By Laluchasigue

April 18, 2008

A whole lot of fuss has been made about Obama’s possible flipping of the middle finger to Hillary in response to his treatment during Wednesday’s debate as something less than Baby Jesus. If he in fact intended to flip her off, his gesture marks a new low in a campaign that was supposedly predicated on high-mindedness.

Obama’s invocation of Jay-Z’s defiant “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” battle anthem during the same speech adds evidence to the claim that he gave Hillary the finger.

To see Obama brush his shoulders off, go to 2:25 of this video clip.

Spencer Ackerman, another young white male media Obamaton, called Obama’s gesture “perhaps the coolest subliminal cultural reference in the history of American politics.”

So what is the hype about? What did Jay-Z actually say that captivated Barack Obama?

Here is the hook and first verse to the new theme song of Obama ‘08:

=

Obama hasn’t flipped a “middle finga to the law” but to Hillary instead (his godfather Tony Rezko and possible financial angel Nadmi Auchi were the ones flicking off the law). He got his clock cleaned in a debate about his closest associates, his domestic policy proposals and national security credentials, but after a quick, not-so-subliminal reference to Jay-Hova, Obama’s back to “feelin’ like a pimp.”

But don’t blame Obama if you don’t like his reaction. He’s never responsible. George Stephanopoulos and ABC forced him to behave like a wannabe American gangster.

By now, you have probably heard about the latest Obama ad. To be honest, I don’t want to give it any more play than it has gotten – you can find it on YouTube. (SusanUnPC has posted the video here last night in her story, “The Obama Campaign May Have Finished Itself Off Permanently — Through Utter Cruelty [Update].” Uppity Woman has a new story going up later tonight, and LisaB wrote about the ad earlier today, and quoted an insightful NYTimes story on McCain disability.).

In the ad, Obama attacks McCain for being in office since 1982, thus implying he’s been around too long. Apparently, he forgot that his own running mate has been in since 1973. No matter. That’s not the worst part, it’s just stupid. No, the worst part is when the ad mocks – yes, MOCKS – McCain for not being able to use a keyboard and send email, apparently trying to keep his youthful base. Well, that’s also kinda stupid insofar as some senior citizens might take offense, but that’s not the biggest issue with it. Ready? Here is it:

JOHN MCCAIN CANNOT TIE HIS SHOES OR EVEN COMB HIS HAIR MUCH LESS USE A KEYBOARD BECAUSE OF THE INJURIES HE SUSTAINED AS A POW!!! Seriously, he cannot raise his arms above his shoulders.

This is all pretty well known, which is what makes Obama’s latest ad not just offensive, but cruel and heartless.

How dare he mock this man who almost died in service to this country for not being able to do “hip” activities like use a keyboard when the man cannot even comb his hair!!!

What the hell is the MATTER with Obama??? This is so reminiscent of Saxby Chambliss attacking Max Cleland as being unpatriotic, except that Chambliss was not running to be COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!! If this is how Obama treats this war hero, how can any of our returning wounded veterans expect him to take their issues, their physical limitations, seriously??

There are many who are writing on this issue, and better than I, so I refer you to my favorite haunt, No Quarter, to see some of those pieces. But I saw a piece on this ad today that just stymied me. The title is: “Obama Gets Tough, Shoots Self in Head.” True that, but it was THIS sentence from that piece that really hit me:

“I’ve always thought that Barack Obama is unqualified for the office of President—he isn’t qualified to be a Senator, either—but I’ve never thought he was particularly mean-spirited. Until now.”

I’m sorry, WHAT? You never thought Obama was mean-spirited (though I applaud you for recognizing that he is not fit to hold elected office)? I have long thought he was, and he has shown it in any NUMBER of ways. Here are just a few: remember the “Harry and Louise” ads in which he completely misrepresented Hillary Clinton’s Universal Health Care message, as well as NAFTA, and how he dismissed her when she spoke out about the ads? Here’s a refresher:

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: After two of Sen. Barack Obama’s mailers, one on NAFTA and the other on health care, prompted Sen. Hillary Clinton to say, “Shame on you, Barack Obama,” Obama told reporters Clinton got “exercised this morning,” and that the notion that “somehow we are engaging in nefarious tactics, I think, is hard to swallow.”

Uh, no, no it isn’t.

Okay, that was mild, but still, shows his character. How about this one?

Or this:

Or how about this:

Don’t you just LOVE his mealy mouth attempts to claim this didn’t happen?? Claire McCaskill’s mouth does not look like she is saying a damn thing, Obama. And pictures don’t lie.

How about the ever-growing number of people he has thrown under the bus whenever it was politically expedient to do so, INCLUDING HIS OWN GRANDMOTHER? That doesn’t strike anyone as being mean-spirited?

Hell, I could go on and on and on, sadly. I just cannot believe that people are just NOW seeing how mean-spirited he IS. He has demonstrated it time and time again, but I guess since his minions were laughing, others thought maybe it was suppsoed to be funny.

Yeah, well, that freakin’ offensive as all-get-out ad was SUPPOSED to be funny – if he wasn’t making fun of someone for activities lost to him because of TORTURE!!!

Again, here is the one the DNC shoved down our throat. This mean-spirited, egotistical, arrogant, narcissistic, unqualified, inexperienced blowhard. Well done, DNC. You really know how to pick ‘em.

OK, so three out of four of my siblings are Obama people. I don’t know about the fourth – I don’t think he has decided yet. My mother, a STAUNCH Hillary supporter, who is furious with the DNC (and has told them so because of the vote theft, etc.) says she doesn’t know where she went wrong with them. Me either. But all of a sudden, they have started sending me articles and emails on why McCain/Palin are evil, and Obama is The One. I’m paraphrasing a little, but not a lot.

My oldest brother sent me the piece Gloria Steinem wrote on Gov. Palin, an elitist, patronizing piece in which she diminishes people who hunt (not understanding, I guess, that many people hunt to put FOOD on the table, especially in these difficult economic times), among other smears. So, I felt compelled to write him back. A lot of this is information those who have been paying attention already know:

I am not an apologist for Sarah Palin, but I find the argument that SHE is inexperienced as Steinem said to be laughable. The DNC selected the least experienced candidate ever, one who refuses to make available ANY paper trail at all – no college or law school transcripts, no medical records, no passports, no birth certificates, and claims he had NOT ONE PAPER or DATE BOOK available from his time in the IL Senate (which is part-time service, btw). One who has no legislative accomplishments of note to his name. Never mind the LONG list of his sordid associates which throw his whole “good judgment” stance out the window.

Add to that his vote for FISA, for the Bush/Cheney Energy Bill, for keeping Terry Schiavo on life support.

Or his lack of chairing ONE meeting of the European Affairs Subcommittee, which oversees Afghanistan, and now claims that we need to do more abt Afghanistan, and who wants to return to the foreign policy of DONALD RUMSFELD…If this was BUSH, the Progressives would be going batshit crazy screaming our fool heads off.

But for some reason, this is all fine and dandy. Never mind all of the university professors who are now shrugging off his constant plagiarizing (and his picking a running mate who is also a plagiarizer), an act that can get students thrown OUT of universities. Why? I really don’t get this infatuation with this man! Without a teleprompter, he can barely even talk!! But he is “eloquent,” and has “good judgm ent.” Um, no. And he is sexist as all hell, to boot.

And for some reason, Obama is constantly comparing himself to the VP pick, not the presidential nominee. Much easier for him to pick on a woman than a man, as he demonstrated time and again during this campaign. Flipping Hillary off, brushing her off his shoulder and his shoe, having “99 Problems BUt a Bitch Ain’t One” playing when he won Iowa. Class act this guy. Oh, and for what it’s worth – he lives 1 1/2 blocks away from Bill Ayers, who lives right down the street from the Farrakhan Compound. What a coincidence.

Oh – is now when I tell you that my brother has a PhD., and developed some major software, whose clients include NASA? Yeah. He’s supposed to be smart (my younger brother and his wife – both PhDs – also are big Obama supporters, at least my brother is. My sis-in-law is a “Vote Democrat” no matter what more than anything.). Just goes to show that there is a difference between being educated and having common sense. I can say that because I have BOTH!!! Ahem.

Here’s what he wrote back:

These are interesting accusations. Do you know these things for a fact? What is your source of information? Is there some doubt about the fact that Obama was elected president of the Harvard Law Review? You don’t get to that place by being a flaky biscuit. Is there any doubt about the fact that McCain was at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy?

I don’t follow you with the Donald Rumsfield foreign policy thing. What do you mean?

One thing I can say for sure. I have seen Obama in many interviews and town hall type conversations, besides the podium speeches. He has always impressed me with his speaking ability in off the cuff situations. This is a sharp dude.

I also like Joe Biden very much. He is a solid, decent, knowledgeable person.

At the end of the day, this is about policies, not personalities. Who do you think is going to best implement the objectives of Hillary Clinton? If you say McCain-Palin, then I don’t see how you get there.

Oh, boy. Evidently, he does not have the same desire for sources when others are “accused,” but whatever. And yes, he DID go there about the personalities. Here’s my response:

Yes, I know these things for a fact. This is what I do every day, all day long.

True, Obama was head of the Law Review, and the ONLY Editor to never publish a single piece while editor. His tenure is the least quoted year of ANY for the Harvard Law Review. The changes he implemented were changed immediately after he left. He has only one piece that was finally uncovered just recently from his time at Harvard (it’s on abortion, by the way), and is not well written at all. He never published anything as a law instructor, either. Nothing. And he wasn’t a full professor, either.

Have you watched Obama in the debates? Interviews? His constant stammering has become fodder for late-night comedians, counting up how many times he says, “uh, uh, uh” in a few minutes time. Sure, give him a prepared speech, and he’s great. Of course, he doesn’t WRITE them – he leaves that up to three young white guys (not kidding – NY Times had an article on them).

Obama said if he was elected president, he would want to return to the Foreign Policy of George Bush the first. Those policies were courtesy of Donald Dumsfeld. He said this shortly after he lauded Reagan as a transformational president, and tore Bill Clinton down. Here’s a LINK. It was at Huffington Post, too.

I agree that this is not abt personalities, yet that seems to be the ONLY reason people are voting for Obama. Many of the people I know who support him seem to know NOTHING abt him except he gives a good speech, and he claims he had good judgment for giving an anti-war (not all wars, mind you) speech in front of an anti-war crowd in Hyde Park. He wasn’t even the main speaker – Jesse Jackson was! In fact, his speech wasn’t even recorded. They went back and did it in a studio. He got everyone thrown off the ballot right before the election when he ran for IL senate, thus running unopposed. Oh, including his mentor, Alice Palmer. His manager, David Axelrod, exposed the Republican opponent for US Senate’s sealed divorce records, revealing he had an affair, so he had to drop out at the last minute. So they brought in Alan Keyes, who is NUTS. That’s how he got into the Senate. He has missed almost 50% of votes in the Senate. And like I said, he has not held ONE subcommittee meeting on European Affairs, the committee that oversees Afghanistan, NATO, and Europe. He said he was too busy campaigning, after only being in the US Senate ONE YEAR. If anyone else had tried this, with such a flimsy record of legislation both in the IL Senate and US Senate, they would have been laughed off the stage. He claims to be on committees he isn’t, claims he assisted in legislation he didn’t (even in the Saddleback Forum – he claimed he worked with McCain on campaign finance reform – McCain has a letter he sent to him apologizing for taking him at his word that he really DID want to work on it – it’s powerful stuff, and reveals early on how duplicitous Obama is). How is it you don’t know ANY of this? His relationship with Bill Ayers, the unrepentant domestic terrorist? The one with whom he worked at the Annenberg Challenge at which $110 million kinda disappeared? And from which he gave people like Jeremiah Wright big chunks of change (the fund was supposed to be for education)?

Look at his associates: IL State Senator James Meeks, close personal friend and spiritual mentor. Not only is he actively anti-gay, but he works with Focus on the Family and other groups to try to end separation of church and state (which is what made Steinem’s smear on Palin abt James Dobson ironic). Tony Rezko – convicted. Kwame Kilpatrick – convicted. Gov of IL – under investigation. Oh, and his church is associated with Hamas and Louis Farrakhan. New politics? Nope – Chicago-style politics.

Personally, I don’t like BIden at all. He’s also a plagiarizer, and stood with Bush a great deal after 9/11, always appearing with him in the Rose Garden. Doesn’t bother you he said Obama is too inexperienced to be president?

I would have thought after 8 yrs of Bush, someone else everyone claimed was too inexperienced (he was actually MORE experienced than Obama), people would not want to take such a risk again, and with someone who is more secretive than Bush EVER was. His birth certificate is important, since apparently, he was adopted by his mother’s second husband – if he had dual citizenship EVER, it excludes him from being president (and all of this “I grew up with a poor single mother” is just CRAP. She was remarried to a wealthy Indonesian business man when he was quite small. He went to the most prestigious school in Hawaii – his grandmother, the “typical white person,” was a bank vice president at the largest bank in Hawaii. They were not poor people. His father was a polygamist who was abusive to his wives, and who had a number of DUIs,and died in a drunk driving accident.).

So, I agree – it shouldn’t BE about personalities, but that’s exactly what it has been. And I am not voting for him just because of all of the above. I am not voting for him because I will not, cannot, condone the Democratic Party engaging in voter fraud, theft, and disenfranchisement. When the DNC starts taking votes cast for one person and giving them to another, they have lost their moral compass. It is immoral at best, and likely illegal. That was the ONLY way Obama got the nomination. That and the DNC treating FL and MI more harshly than any other state because they knew they were going for Clinton. So they took away 100% of their votes. Their RULE is 50%, same as the RNC. But they did not use that, and they SHOULD have for SC, IA, and NH, too. ALL of those states violated the rule. The purpose was to thwart Clinton’s momentum, same reason Obama took his name off the ballot in MI. He encouraged others to do so, too, as a way to try and embarass Clinton when she won, and as an ass-kiss to IA. To then give him votes not cast for him, when “Uncommitted” is a recognized presidential candidate in MI party rules, as well as to take away delegates Clinton won from votes cast for her by American citizens is reprehensible. I will not support the DNC with my money or time or VOTE anymore until they clean house and regain some semblance of integrity.

So – it’s not that it isn’t Clinton. If Obama had won fair and square, I’d vote for him like I did for Kerry, whom I also did not like. But he didn’t. His campaign engaged in a tremendous amount of dirty politics, especially in caucus states- TX alone had over 2,000 documented cases of fraud to which the DNC turned a blind eye. Clinton supporters were being locked out of the caucuses, numbers were changed when they were called in, peopel were bused in from out of state, they stole packages in TX and had people sign in when they voted rather than having them come back at night…It made NO sense that Clinton would WIN TX by as much as she did, then lose the caucus by as much as she did. There are already a number of reports and documentaries out about this, but the MSM is not covering them.

And that’s another thing – Clinton was outspent up to 4 -1, was trashed regularly NOT for her policies (which were similar to Obama’s because he would take them WHOLE CLOTH from her, like the 5 million green jobs initiative), while praising Obama up one side and down the other WITHOUT EVER VETTING HIM.

I do not think for a second Obama will work for the same policies Clinton did. I think he will go whichever way the wind blows. He has already demonstrated that time and time again. Why he isn’t being held to any of his votes is beyond me – and which just reinforces my point that people are not paying attention to WHAT he says, just how he says it (by the way – he didn’t have that folksy Southern-churchy accent when he was running for IL Senate). Look at his flip on FISA. Offshore drilling. Public campaign funding. Just to name a few.

I don’t know if I will even vote this year, so don’t assume I am voting for McCain/Palin. I can say that McCain is an honorable man, and has given his entire life i n service to this country. That means something. He is also moderate, and a reformer, something Obama will NEVER be (oh – today’s BIG report is about Obama raging on Palin, particularly about the Bridge to Nowhere, which she did get rid of afterall – and which HE VOTED FOR TWICE!!! He claimed, “Palin Can’t Just Make Stuff Up!” No, that purview belongs to Obama alone.). But Obama will never get my vote. He should never have assumed he would.

So that’s how my morning started – not at ALL about what I was going to write today. But you never know what is going to come up, I reckon. And I know there is evern more about Obama, but I figured I was pushing my luck with him actually reading it this far.

Ah, families…

Barack Obama, the presumptive presidential candidate who has hung out for over two decades with violent extremists, radical and racist preachers, and both backed and enabled the now-convicted Tony Rezko who bilked taxpayers out of millions and left poor people in uninhabitable housing he failed to renovate, said this last night in Philadelphia, a city plagued by crime and violence:

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

This man’s arrogance is so boundless, he believes that he can get away with anything.

– He grabs his wife’s ass on stage before a TV audience of millions.

– He has invoked hip-hop singer’s Jay-Z “battle” anthem: “Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law” by giving Hillary Clinton the middle finger (by running his middle digit down his cheeck) and dusting her off his shoulder. Obama is a professed fan of Jay-Z, whose lyrics begin:

If you feelin’ like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder (Read all.)

– He has quoted, numerous times, the words of Malcolm X in Spike Lee’s film (see the “Bamboozled” video below the fold).

As Mike’s America at the Flopping Aces blog asks, depressingly, “And they call Bush a cowboy?” Tom Maguire hits the nail on the head in his post, “The Chicago Way” at his blog Just One Minute:

1. I deplore this exhortation to random gunplay – what sort of a message does this send to America’s youth, too many of whom have grown up in a culture glorifying violence? Is Obama a serious Presidential candidate or yet another rapper with yet another beef?

2. I deplore the imagery of a black man waving a gun to settle a dispute …

If this were a laughing matter, I’d post this image and let you chuckle away:

But the only thing that’s amusing here is that Barack Obama is a joke of a candidate.

We could state the obvious: That this is speech unbecoming a presidential candidate who presumes he is fit to be the leader of the free world.

But it is more serious: Maguire is correct to point out that such language — such thinking (!) — is an abysmal example for children, teenagers, and young adults.

Already, hundreds of thousands of us who support Hillary Clinton or in any other way oppose Barack Obama’s candidacy have been subjected to the most ruthless attacks and unrelenting stalking by Obama’s followers who perpetrate these assaults on us around the clock, 24/7 in an unending effort to intimidate and frighten us.

We know that, if Barack Obama ever called on his followers to cease these Internet and real-life attacks, that those assaults would decline in number and frequency. But Obama never asks his followers to straighten up and to act like responsible adults — just as the innumerable verbal assaults on Hillary Clinton were rarely, if ever, properly and promptly dealt with by Mr. Obama. Even when his longtime intimate associate Father Michael Pfleger attacked Hillary Clinton before Obama’s own congregation at Trinity church in Chicago, Obama failed to apologize to Hillary Clinton or directly rebuke Fr. Pfleger’s nasty, racist remarks. (Obama’s primary action was self-protective, as he sought to distance himself, in a superficial public remark, from Fr. Pfleger — despite the fact that he and Pfleger were on the telephone often as recently as May while Pfleger acted as a go-between for the falling out between Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama.)

But Obama won’t call on his thuggish followers to cease and desist. He approves of the “new McCarthyism” from his followers.

Taking a different tack on this latest, and shocking, remark by Obama: It is disturbing that he has so little control over what he says that he cannot self-edit what he says in public.

We know that Obama is a candidate unusually dependent on a teleprompter in order to speak properly and coherently before an audience.

One of the most recent examples was when the unscripted Obama said that Iran (and other nations) are such tiny countries that they pose no serious threat to the U.S., and then the unscripted Obama, the next day in another speech, charged that Iran is a dangerous threat.

I’m sure that this kind of talk — “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” — is used all the time in Barack’s conversations with his thuggish extremist, radical pals in Chicago.

But it won’t play well in Peoria or Portland (Maine as well as Oregon) or, most certainly, not in Oklahoma City, which was devastated by horrific violence that began, after all, with just talking about guns and bombs.

Military leaders, both past and present, must be shaking their heads, worried to death that this “cowboy” could be the next Commander in Chief.

It’s no wonder that over 38 flag officers rushed to endorse Hillary Clinton because they know that she is not only highly knowledgeable about the military culture — which grasps the gravity of any suggestion or threat of violence — but that she would also be prudent in exercising military might or escalating any crisis situation without the most careful deliberations and consultations with her superb group of military advisers.

From the open letter sent in March 2008 by former flag officers — who were clearly concerned, deeply, about the perils of nominating an unqualified, unknowledgeable candidate:

[...]

It is imperative that our new President knows how and when to use force and diplomacy judiciously, to know how to deploy the olive branch and the arrow. The President needs to be ready to act swiftly and decisively in a crisis. And we think our next President must restore our moral authority and leadership around the world with the courage to meet with our adversaries when appropriate, and the wisdom to pursue diplomacy wisely.

It is especially important to understand the military and diplomatic challenges facing us in Iraq, and to end the Iraq war responsibly and safely. It is also important to rededicate ourselves to winning in Afghanistan, the forgotten front line in our fight against terrorism.

In these critical areas, it is clear to us that Senator Clinton is the candidate best qualified to be our nation’s next Commander-in-Chief.

We believe that she has real understanding of the military through her diligent service on the Senate Armed Services Committee. She has worked tirelessly to ensure our men and women in uniform are properly trained and equipped to be sent to battle. And she has fought to make certain that they are treated with dignity when they return home. We have personally and closely observed her respect for our armed forces, and she has earned their respect. And ours.

We hope that as a country, we will now turn our attention to the critical issues that will determine the future of our great nation.

We know that — at a rally in Raleigh, N.C., the day after his disastrous performance in the ABC debate — Barack Obama gave Hillary his middle finger (reported here and here).

Then, we — particularly those of us (ahem, like me) who don’t know hip-hop music and culture — learned about another gesture Obama made in the same speech, when he swiped his hand over his shoulder. Laluchasigue’s fascinating article here at No Quarter explained the gesture, and its origin: “Obama Invokes Jay-Z: ‘Stab the Ladies…Middle Finga To The Law’.” Laluchasigue quotes Jay-Z’s lyrics:

[Chorus: Jay-Z]
If you feelin’ like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder

Now, get this Obamabot’s reaction to the gesture:

Dude, I nearly swooned — SWOONED, I tell you — when I saw that. That’s one of my fave Jay-Z joints of all time. HUGE SWIRLING VORTEX OF LOVE. I could not pink-fuzzy-heart Barack one iota more.

Violet Socks posted a diary about that “swooner” over at the terrific new blog, HillarysVoice. She found the report at Corrente Wire, another excellent blog (and refuge where they haven’t drunk the KoolAid).

So I popped right over to Corrente Wire, and checked its “Department Of The Missing Media Critique.” First, the writer Lambert cites the delusional Obamabot reactions:

Of Barry’s latest awsum speech, full of “pretty cool” “dogwhistles” [SEE VIDEO BELOW] — one of which was giving Hillary the finger — Spencer burbles:

Starting at 2:20, bear witness to perhaps the coolest subliminal cultural reference [to this extremely presidential Jay Z tune] in the history of American politics.

Then Corrente Wire’s Lambert hits a home run with this quote from — guess who — at The Manchester Guardian:

interestingly, there’s been a version of what Spencer’s saying out there for some time, albeit a longer one. The source will surprise you:
From the Manchester Guardian:

In the words of that Clinton adviser: “If you have a social need, you’re with Hillary. If you want Obama to be your imaginary hip black friend and you’re young and you have no social needs, then he’s cool.”

Well, that Clinton adviser (Howard Wolfson?) turned out to be right on the money, didn’t he? Because I don’t really know how to categorize what Obama must be to Our Spencer, and his swooning acolyte, than an imaginary hip black friend. Of course, in reality, he’s a Chicago politician with one national election under his belt where his opponent imploded. But let that pass. Ponies<a href="/glossary/term/5148" title="Pony: n. An intensely desired but extremely unlikely outcome. A magical but non-existent creature.

Ex: "we are going to stay in Iraq until we find the pony". "> for everyone!)

But at the time, Oh the humanity! …

I’ll leave you hanging. Go read the rest at Corrente Wire — in Lambert’s “Can We Say “Imaginary Hip Black Friend” Now? Since The Boiz Just Did?.”

::::::::::::::::::

Here is Vet Hill’s “mash-up” of Obama’s post-debate whining and excuse-making:

If you missed Obama’s sorry performance and his whining about the debate, here’s the video, which his own campaign put up at YouTube:
